My flight was delayed so I spent the extra time doing a glass of water study on my iPad using this ridiculous image of a budgie. I love birds behind glasses of water.

the budgerigar, also known as the budgie or simply as a parakeet, is a small member of the parrot family residing in australia (and in small introduced populations in other parts of the world). they primarily eat seeds as their natural diet. they are highly social birds that may travel in flocks numbering in the thousands; they are almost never solitary by choice. they are a popular pet, and typically relatively easy to care for in comparison to larger parrots, though they still have complex social and emotional needs; they should not be kept as single birds unless they have behavioral issues preventing them from having a cagemate. wild-type birds are green with yellow heads; captive breeders have developed many color mutations, such as lutino, albino, and blue, that budgerigars can be found in today.
