Alex couldn't help but smile down at his phone. It made his stomach flutter knowing that Henry was becoming even more comfortable with him that he was so open to make jokes that would make his ancestors roll over in their graves. Though, he guessed Henry's entire existence would make most of those kings and queens die all over again.
The First Son let out a sigh, letting his head fall back against the head rest of his seat. When Henry asked him to come spend the holidays with him at Balmoral, he was originally hesitant, but the way his boyfriend pouted those unnecessarily plump lips in his directions, how was he suppose to say no? There was a part of Alex, the spiteful American part, that was more inclined to see how many more shades of grey Philip could turn.
"I'm sure Alex would want to spend Christmas with his family..."
"Latest polls say that the American people think we're adorable and I am the best boyfriend for traveling to partake in this lovely family tradition..."
"Just think, you let the Daily Mail get a few candids of you showing me the gardens around the castle and people will think that you're a kind future king, and a supportive big brother..."
The countryside of Scotland was beautiful, if not a little wet, but he learned his lesson this time, wearing a pair of waterproof Red Wing boots with his chinos rolled up to reveal thick wool socks to keep his feel dry and warm. He noticed the raised brow of approval from Shaan when he stepped out of the car. His outfit, also consisting of a wool sweater and Calvin Klein pea coat, was chosen on purpose. He was at least going to look the part of the All-American-Boy-Next-Door that he knew the tabloids would eat up, anything to make it easier on Henry so they could actually enjoy their time together.
Speaking of, Alex couldn't but smile as he saw that crown of golden blond coming up behind Shaan. In the orange and pinks of the sudden sun, Henry looked like he was literally glowing, like a Madonna in a Renaissance painting.
God, he really was helplessly in love with this man wasn't he?
