Today I’m going to talk in more detail, about White Diamond. Or Rather, I going to analyze her speech in the short time we saw her.
The very first thing she says is “Pink! There you are.“ and right off the bat we have something rather interesting, focusing only on what she said, it doesn’t sound normal for someone who found out that a relative was not dead, in fact, this line leads me to believe that White already knew that Pink was alive. And the way she said it early similar to a mother whose child is hiding somewhere and she already saw her/him, which further promotes the idea that White knew all along that Pink was alive.
The second thing White says is “Hello Starlight, you certainly gave everyone a scare, they're all just thrilled to see you safe and sound.“, in the first part of this sentence, White calls Pink “(...)Starlight(...)” and it’s interesting to see that White gave Pink a nickname and that’s because, and spoiler alert, due to certain information White is going to be cruel and have a physically abusive relationship with her Pearl, something that I find to be unusual, even in Gem culture, so why give Pink a nickname, maybe she actually liked Pink, but it’s more likely that it’s just a form to control her, to abuse her. You see the two best ways to control the outcome is to either control the environment or to get the individual to consider your ideas their own. And to do either, you must have a close connection to everybody involved, in the first case so no one suspects you, in the second one because it allows you to know the person, know how they tick, no how to get to get them to do what you want, and, most importantly, it leads them to trust you, which not only makes it easier to control them, but it also makes them more likely to refuse people when they try to call them out for your actions. And I think this is what White did with Pink, she manipulated her. White's tone when saying this is also odd, she's calm instead of the more logical anger or happiness, almost like not only knew that Pink wasn't dead but she also didn't care enough to stop doing something that she always did. The second part of this sentence, "(...)you certainly gave everyone a scare(...)", sounds like she's toying with Pink, like a mother playfully agreeing with her infant child, and when in conjunction with the last part of this sentence, "(...)they're all just thrilled to see you safe and sound.", it almost sounds like White is trying to say "You didn't trick me and now I told everyone.". And if we all parts of the sentence taking their meaning into consideration, we'll see that what White was trying to say was "You tried to escape, you failed. Now you've trapped yourself even further, and this time by your own doing"
The third think White says is "As for this latest little game of yours, thank the stars it's over. Did you have fun? Did you get everything out of your system?". And the first part of this sentence, "As for this latest little game of yours, thank the stars it's over.", is rather chilling, because it implies that, to White, everything was just a game, the rebellion, the 5000+ years of grief, everything. Which implies that white is old and powerful. Also, when White says "(...)thank the stars it's over.", her voice is almost synthetic like a robot would sound like. The second part of the sentence, "Did you have fun? Did you get everything out of your system?", only comes to confirm that White abused Pink, because it's a threat in disguise "Do not do this again". You see, in an abusive relationship, which is something I have no experience with and, therefore, can wrong about (and if you do have the experience and that's the case, I'm terribly sorry), when the abused tries to stand up to the abuser the latter tends to try and "put them in their place" by treating them worse, often times with violence, until they pass the message "do this again, and it will get worse". And I think this is what's going to happen next, White will show Pink (Steven) that she shouldn't have done what she did. So what White actually meant was "It's over and you better not do anything like this again, or else"
The last sentence White says is "Good, good. Everybody is so relieved. Welcome home Pink". The first part of this sentence, "Good, good.", comes to show that White doesn't care about Pink, as she doesn't even let Steven talk before acting like he agreed with her. The second part of this sentence, "Everybody is so relieved.", doesn't, in my opinion, have any significance. But the last part, however, I find weird: when White says "Welcome home Pink", it's the only time when she sounds, warm, not a motherly warm nor the warmth of someone who cares about you. And that's what makes it so weird, this warmth does not seem to fit the rest of the speech unless White's warmth comes not from having Pink back but from having her toy back. But that's pure speculation.
White's speech was amazing, it truly was. It simultaneously set up her character whilst keeping the mystery that is WhiteDiamond.
But that’s just my opinion, love to see yours! See you next time
