okay at one side I know Casavir's backstory was cut (i mean half of this game was cut, lol) and that it was about him killing his rival for Ophala and etc. But! It's cut content and it took me 5 dark souls discussions to realise, that cut content, even if planned and not conflicting with what stated in game, is still not canon. Yes, I am not clever, but whatever, when I realised it, I felt power of headcanon in my hands.

So I've been thinking and have weird desire to headcanon Casavir as main char of nwn1 main campaign. I mean he could leave Neverwinter after disappointment in Aribeth's execution. I mean it's also a very shameful story (hero of Neverwinter leaves city he saved and says he is disappointed in it!), also connected to woman (hi, Aribeth, how is weather in Cania?) and is also a good connection between games.

Btw, I am bad at chronology, so it would be a shame, if dates don't work, but anyway. My headcanon, because it's been tickling in my brain for week already

Mod Release: Casavir Romance Enhanced

Please note: This mod should be considered open beta for the time being. If you notice things not working as they should, please tell me so I can figure out why.

I've surely missed some dialogues, because it's a big game; if you know of any, let me know which ones and I will add them in future updates. Details and download link under the cut!

This was something I mainly threw together because I felt the way the romance plays out in vanilla doesn't actually do Casavir justice. This mod makes it so you have to work for the romance a bit, instead of getting railroaded into it because of shoddy programming. I think Obsidian expected the influence system to lock evil characters out of the romance, but it never quite worked as intended, since there's only a low influence check for the final scene, and not in any of the buildup to it that takes place throughout the game. My goal was to rectify that, and make the romance feel more like a thing that develops slowly as you adventure together. The new requirements are as follows. - You must be a good or neutral alignment. Any evil alignment locks you out of the romance entirely. - In Act 1, you need to talk to him about why he went to Old Owl Well, and successfully reassure him that he doesn't have to face all struggles alone. - Also in Act 1, I've raised the influence required for him to tell you why he left Neverwinter from 10 to 15. It will only be available if you have previously used the "I want to talk to you more about why you went to Old Owl Well" option. You'll need to pass this check as well to progress the romance. - In Act 2, no specific checks but I have made some small changes to when he warns you about Bishop. From the former "why do you care?", which feels a touch aggressive, the option will now be to simply ask him why he doesn't trust Bishop. Also reordered the PC's responses. They will now be in descending order, positive to negative. I also fixed some minor spelling errors and inconsistencies. - In Act 3, talk about his feelings and get the almost-confession. A positive response here will gain you some influence points. Telling him you're uncomfortable with this or that you only want his service will shut the romance down. - You'll need a minimum of 25 influence points to get the final love scene. Each one of the romance-specific dialogues has an influence threshold as well, so if they're not showing up, that's why. Just keep playing and do good deeds, and you should get them eventually. As long as you're exhausting Casavir's dialogue before moving on to the next act of the game, you'll be fine. Various NPC dialogues and conflict cutscenes that were related to the romance, have also been given influence and alignment checks. This post is already long enough, so please look at the included readme file for the mod for details about those. There's a lot more I could do, but this is a starting point and I hope it will make the romance feel more immersive. Or simply be easier to avoid, for those that want that.

To install, unzip the file and put the folder into My Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2/override. Due to the way the game's file system works, you will need to start a new game for the changes to apply. Sorry for any inconvenience.
