How to Make a Black Walnut Old Fashioned
Happy National Bourbon Month, friends! I figured the best time to make a come back was in honor of my favorite spirit! This month I have something super special planned for all of us. For the month of September, I'll be uploading a new video EVERY SINGLE DAY. That's right! You'll learn one new cocktail every single day this month!
Let's start with this little riff on the Old Fashioned, The Black Walnut Old Fashioned. This one stars Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon, Nocello Walnut Liqueur, and a smidge of Woodford Reserves Cherry Bitters. The result is a vanilla hinted, nutty, dark caramel dream. Substituting the simple syrup here for walnut liqueur brings out all the characteristics I love in Four Roses.
Play around with this one! I love using Aztec Chocolate Bitters or Orange Bitters in it as well.
The Black Walnut Old Fashioned
2 oz Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon 1 oz Nocello (Walnut Liqueur) 3-5 Dashes Cherry Bitters
Stir, strain, serve over ice. Garnish with a Luxardo cherry and either lemon or orange peel for brightness.

How to Make a Rosarito Hechizado
Translating or "Bewitched Rosarito" this cocktail is a San Diego interpretation of a Mexican hot chocolate. There's a lot going on in this one-- from the spicy notes of Acho Reyes to the cinnamon forward Horchata Vodka and onto the deep chocolate notes of the 8-Ball Whiskey, it's a decadent dessert in a glass. The pinch of salt balances the sweetness, bringing out the complex meld of flavors. This is the perfect Halloween cocktail to enjoy while the kids count their candy.
Rosarito Hechizado
2 oz 8-Ball Chocolate Whiskey
1 oz Ancho Reyes Chili Liqueur
1 oz Fugu Horchata Vodka
2-4 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
Pinch of Salt
Stir, strain into a chilled coupe, and garnish with a marshmallow ghost (draw the face on with an edible marker or icing).
How to Make The Zesty Potion
The Zesty Potion
2 oz 8-Ball Chocolate Whiskey
1 oz Cointreau
1 oz Cream
.5 tsp Cinnamon
3 oz Soda Water
Add 8-ball, Cointreau, Cream, and Cinnamon to a cocktail shaker (or mason jar if you're simple like me). Add ice & shake vigorously for roughly 1 minute. Strain into a collins glass with ice, and top with soda water slowly to allow the foamy goodness rise at the top. Garnish with an orange peel and fun straw of your choice.
This drink is delightfully zesty and chocolatey-- think of a chocolate cream soda with a tinge of orange sweetness. It's absolutely perfect for a warm Halloween night. Bonus round, if you're dressing up as The Dude this year, this one is also great without the soda water over ice-- it feels like a chocolate orange White Russian.

How to Make a Brown Derby
A little bit sweet, a little bit sour, the Brown Derby is a mash up of the light and dark side of bourbon. The mix of bourbon and grapefruit is both sweet and tangy, and the complexity of the honey syrup adds a floral sweetness that really elevates this one. A quick Google search on the origin of this one told me it was named after an LA hot spot near the Sunset Strip in the 1930's. Once you taste it, I think you'll see why this classic has stood the test of time.
The Brown Derby
2 oz Bourbon 1 oz Grapefruit Juice 1/2 oz Honey Syrup 3-5 Dashes Peychaud's Bitters
Shake, strain, serve up and garnish with mint.

How to Make a Mint Julep
I couldn't get out of National Bourbon Month without a Mint Julep video. Y'all didn't think I'd leave you hanging, did you? This Kentucky Derby classic is beyond simple to make. I know I do it a little bit differently than the traditional prep, but I think this makes it easiest to do at home, and it best combines the ingredients. Without futher ado, here's the Mint Julep.
Mint Julep
2 oz Bourbon 1/2 oz Simple Syrup 5-7 Mint Leaves
Muddle mint leaves and simple syrup together. Add bourbon, crushed ice, combine quickly. Pack the glass with crushed ice, garnish with a mint sprig and a straw.
