Your ideas scratch an itch in my brain ouughh♡♡♡ one thing I notice in the manga is that cats seem to always be so wary of Saitama, maybe because they can sense his otherworldly strength? that means he probably never experience a cats purrs and thrills on him–
Like yeah, he sees it in manga, in tv shows, hell probably seen how strays interact better with other strangers than himself and he'd get all, "I don't care/mind" and "What's so special about them anyways", maybe that's why he prefers dogs.
So! when he sees genos—not only have ears and tails—but also purrs and trills?? his thoughts went from (bro I don't really care as long as it's not bothering/hurting nobody) to (oh my god he purrs and acts like an actual cat what the fuck?? is this what what they call being healed by them??) then to (I suddenly have the urge to pet him. It kinda feels great snuggling with him. wow he's really warm and weirdly fluffy?)
While Genos, at first, felt almost defeated at the thought of his appearance, then embarrassed by his instinctive involuntary actions as a cat, to taking advantage of this newfound change to steal the attention and affection of his Sensei.
