1) is there a story you’re holding off on writing for some reason?

So here's a thing: I'm not done with Cat and Lindsey.

I'm done with them as they were. I'm done with straight up torture fics. They didn't hold my interest and there wasn't enough characterisation to work with, with the victims being Male Name of the Week.

But now that I've played out their breakup, I have some new ideas. Cat in recovery, with new and delightful Lindsey trauma on top of what she has already, that she's been spending years repressing.

Liam as her reluctant, nervous caretaker, finding his own feet and working out whether to forgive her.

Lindsey, untethered, on the hunt for a new best friend.

But I have too many projects disease and right now I want to focus on three maximum, and they're at a good break point... But they'll be back.

can I ask what Lindsay, Liam, and Cat look like? I’m super curious about it

Heck yeah you can. Your commentary on the Cat arc is giving me life right now.

Lindsey on the left, Cat on the right. Lindsey is over six foot and 270 pounds, Cat is a slim 5'4" but makes up for it by dressing formally 24/7.

For the best Lindsey portrayals though, take a look at @mielosastuff and her art of Lin with Alma.

Liam is also short and skinny and is swallowed up by most of the clothing he wears.

His hair should be more curly though.

Drunk Ty

- used to be a gigantic flirt, would hit on everything but in a very wholesome flattering way

- had a dirty mouth but only when mumbling in Jim’s ear

- nowadays doesn’t drink

- would get anxious and probably have a panic attack because it would remind him of being sedated!

- would potentially get floppy and suggestible

Drunk Jim

- cuddly. he doesn’t drink around Ty anymore!

- cries when people say they’re going home, wants to hug them

- laughs at everything so hard he ends up wheezing and dizzy

- wildly passionate rants about ridiculous things

Drunk Cat

- knows she’ll have a wicked headache in the morning

- refuses to drink water

- drops incredibly cutting and accurate analyses of the people around her like it’s no big thing

- is the life of the party, always laughing

- wants to hug and/or fight everyone

- too honest. you dont want lindsey to be this honest.

Cat wastes time on obscure legal research, reorganising her files and brewing tea in an overly careful manner. If Cat is three hours deep into a 1980s parking violation precedent you know she’s avoiding something. Probably emotions.

Ty stays warm with his blanket, and jumpers, and anything else that’s fresh out the daily laundry load. If he’s too warm, he has very little shame about taking stuff off, since he spent nearly two years wearing next to nothing. He’s quite resilient to temperature, though, and deals better with heat than cold. That’s beneficial, because he gets self-conscious about drawing attention, and doesn’t like to do things like fan himself or fiddle with the heating.

Jim’s nervous habits include messing with his hair, rubbing his face and neck, and baking bread. When Jim is stressed it’s not uncommon to find him kneading dough therapeutically in the kitchen, though after Ty came home he had to cut back on the amount of slapping it on the counter, since sharp noises like that get flinches. Freshly baked bread is a sign that Jim had a tough day, but he likes the smell and taste and texture of it, so it soothes him by association now.

Daveed (I love it when people ask about Daveed) has a soft, clear voice with clipped pronunciation. He prefers short sentences and uses formal language because that’s what the mistress preferred. He can’t sing for toffee and wouldn’t dare try.

His sleeping habits are...pretty terrible. He barely sleeps, goes down late and gets up early. He thinks six hours is a luxury. He’s always tired but he’s a functional tired so it doesn’t stop him. When he does sleep, it’s fitful and involves lots of tossing and turning as his various chronic aches catch up with him. He’s used to having his own bed, and being in his own room. He wakes up frequently, and escapes nightmares because of this. He sleeps fully clothed if you let him, because he always wants to be ready to get up and work. Like most ex-numbers, he can sleep pretty much anywhere, but he likes having a bed.

OC Pain Reactions

A tag game by @straight-to-the-pain! OP is here but S was too shy to make it into a proper one, so I’m doing it!

How would your OCs react if you hurt them?

Ty: Sorry, he's sorry, it's okay you can - if he needs to be punished you can hurt him and he's sorry. Ty’s pain tolerance is pretty good and he’s okay with being hurt as long as he can keep moving, keep cleaning, because being hurt triggers that urge in him.

Jim: Ew what the heck, get off him. Be prepared for a fight! Jim hasn’t been hurt much but he knows how to carry himself and he will resist pain.

Cat: Provides a detailed critique of your method, also, Lindsey is going to be VERY displeased about this. Cat’s pain tolerance is about normal, but she’s excellent at hiding her reactions, so she’ll keep a cool head.

Lindsey: Yeah!! Do it !! :D Lindsey has the highest pain tolerance and she likes most kinds of pain because it’s a fun new experience. But once she gets bored, she is gonna get her own back on you, so you’d better be a good sport about it!

Ellis: No! No no no, he doesn't want it, only one person is allowed to hurt him, please he'll be angry if someone else hurts him. Ellis is used to being hurt as punishment; any other kind of hurt would upset him, but he wouldn’t resist, only beg.

Nic: Ow! why would you do that? Why - stop it! Nic isn’t used to being hurt and is a gentle cookie, so they would try to talk you down and have no idea how to fight back.

Cat and Lindsey pics

And on this day I did make way too many picrews because I couldn’t find any real people references.

We’ll start with a young Caterina Herrera! She is the queen bee of her school. Don’t cross her or you’ll find yourself in trouble pretty quick. She dresses nice because her family have money, and she knows she looks good, but she’s not interested in being your girlfriend.

And here’s young Lindsey wearing a ratty old coat she probably stole, and some nicer clothes underneath that she probably paid for with stolen money. She has some ear piercings but she’s not allowed back to the shop anymore.

(Oops this isn’t a picrew this is from doll divine.) This is the Original Concept Cat, Lindsey, Matilda, Sasha, and Sasha’s snake Oberon. Lindsey’s hair should be curly but otherwise this is pretty much perfect! As I’ve said in many places, Cat is very short and she does not like to be reminded of the fact, and she prefers blouses to casualwear and doesn’t do skirts.Sasha is willowy and goth af.

Lindsey Rosenberg once asked a rabbi if human blood was kosher and was disappointed to learn the answer was no. She has dark eyes, black curly hair, and a round face. She is six two, muscular, chubby, and broad, She can bench Matilda, who is a giant shepherd mix. She is usually carrying at least one knife. Her legal name is not Lindsey Rosenberg, and she often goes by Rose when being particularly criminal.

And here is a bonus Liam! He’s gonna come back at some point because I love him a lot already. He has a soft lil nose and a wobbly mouth. He’s a bit undernourished, pale, and has big overgrown curls of dark brown hair and matching eyes. He’s a scaredy cat!

What would Lindsey and Cat do if a young woman (16-18yo) tracked them down and begged to work with them in hunting and hurting bad people? Not specifically someone who'd hurt them, they'd already taken care of that, but to go after other bad people.

Lindsey would be interested, for sure, but Lindsey’s not allowed to make her own decisions for a reason. Cat would take one look at this so-called fan and kick her to the kerb. What they do isn’t good, and it isn’t admirable, and you shouldn’t want to do it this badly. It’s grim, and bloody, and a lifetime commitment to being on the wrong side of the law. Lindsey does it because she enjoys it because Lindsey is a fucking mess of a human being. Cat does it because she believes someone has to give the monsters what they deserve. Although, she can’t be blamed if she enjoys it a little bit.

Point is, she’s not interested in recruits, and she’s certainly not interested in some kind of child liability learning their trade secrets. Get outta here.

Whimsy continues to be Lindsey’s most feral fan, which is valid because Lindsey herself is barely tamed.

On the subject of Cat. she speaks fluent Spanish. (I don’t so any mistakes are mine!) Decades ago, her father bought a holiday home in Spain and met her madre while there. She spent a lot of time there as a child, mostly during the winter. She still talks to a couple of old friends who are Spanish natives, but mostly by the point of the Zachary drabbles, she only speaks it to wind him up.

She wishes Lindsey knew Spanish so they could chat in front of whumpees, but Lindsey couldn’t get the hang of it. Lindsey herself speaks English and a very small amount of Hebrew that, since her Bat Mitzvah, she’s been working very hard to replace in her brain with knife facts.
