The first ᓚᘏᗢ introduction between my kitties and Buck’s cat Lulu went pretty well!
All three cats have been sniffing at the barrier door since we moved in with great curiosity. In Leeloos case waging an unrelenting campaign to sneak down into Buck’s spaces.
We swapped cat beds after a week of that. Korben and Leeloo were both very interested to sniff. Korben wandered off but Leeloo curled up to sleep in it! Minutes later Buck sent a picture of Lulu doing the same. To sleep each other’s beds within five minutes was astonishing to me.
So today we set up a pet gate in the door to supervise first visual contact. Buck asked, “What’s to stop them from jumping it?” To which we replied, “Us,” but as expected none of them were insane enough to leap into another cats territory.
Leeloo is always Exactly Neutral to meet other cats. Unmoving and very interested but not remotely aggressive. Lulu was wary and hesitant but approached the pet gate we had set up to eat treats which is a great sign.
Korben had to be lured down, caught one glance of Lulu and bolted upstairs where we fawned over and petted him to make him view the interaction positively.
Overall very positive, no hissing, puffing, or any signs of aggression. A little shyness which I’ll take any day. We’ll continue doing gate visits until they get comfortable enough to do some sniffing and nose boops.
