👉 Cabories 2020 👈 A perfect red for those days in-between seasons (do we have that in the UK??). @cellermascandi in Penedes, Catalonia make this bottle to achieve a concentrated, fruity wine that is still fresh and can be drunk at either room temperature OR chilled. To do that, they blend 2 red varieties along with 1 white variety (which is the “wrong” thing to do if you ask a buttoned-up appellation rulebook) Mission is accomplished - mature dark fruit compote, mediterranean scrubland (owing to the Sumoll grape variety) gently spiced up with a nice, round finish. Super interesting 👌

"Barabaroig” by Celler La Gutina. A stunning orange wine made in 2019, a complicated year in Catalunya that saw very limited yield and production for organic winegrowers. We loved how it balances complexity in the form of layers over layers of flavour nuances with drinkability and approachability. Unfortunately availability is the only disability. OK We’ll stop.. 😚 400 bottles produced, zero-zero, still a handful left.
