Lesser Catipede
The Lesser Catipede is a common sight in suburban backyards. While you'll only see them with two or three pairs of legs most of the time, there's no known limit to how big they can get; it's not unheard of to see one with a dozen or more pairs of legs wandering around and chasing birds.
A healthy catipede will grow one new pair of legs every year. Paw buds appear starting in the late fall or early winter, and grow throughout hibernation, with a brand new pair of legs all ready to use when they wake up in the spring.
Catipedes are social, living in small groups. The larger ones will often sleep twisted around the smaller ones for warmth.
