Will had always wondered what was going to become of him. He’d felt numb ever since Hannibal had left him bleeding out on the floor. He had missed Abigail so much she was invading his mind. She was there with him, but he knew that she wasn’t real. Will walked to Abigail’s grave almost three months since his recovery, sighing softly. He held back tears as he placed the flowers onto her grave, trying to let her go.
“Hey...uh...”Will heard after a moment of silence. Will glanced at the voice. A kid with curly brown hair and bright blue eyes stared back at him. Will shivered. The kid looked like he was Will’s.
“Hello.” Will spoke softly, kneeling down to be at eye level, “What do you need?”
“Mom tells me not to talk to strangers.” The kid spoke defensively. The pair paused for only a moment before the kid sighed.
“I lost my mom.” The kid admitted, “Can you help me find her?”
Will sighed softly. He knew that feeling.
“What does she look like?” Will asked gently.
“She’s blonde...and...uh...” The kid shifted awkwardly. He bit his lip. Will smiled softly and sighed, standing up. He glanced around, looking for a blonde woman nearby. Unfortunately for the both of them, Will didn’t spot her. Will glanced back down at the boy.
“Why don’t you walk with me, and we’ll see if we can spot her?” Will asked.
“Sure!” The kid sighed, reaching up for Will’s hand. Reluctantly, Will took the boy’s hand. Will made his way slowly to the front of the graveyard, keeping pace with the kid. Will wanted to make sure that the boy didn’t tire out too quickly on their little adventure. When they got there, a van was the only thing in the parking lot. There were three people standing outside. A curvy woman with blonde hair stood in front of an elderly couple. She was playing with her necklace nervously. Will couldn’t quite pick up their voices.
“Mom!” The boy cried out, letting go of Will’s hand. Will let the boy go and watched him run to his mother, who knelt down and hugged him happily. Will’s chest tightened when they looked at him. He wanted to duck away and get into his car. He didn’t want them to come closer, but the woman approached him swiftly. Will stood awkwardly as the woman hugged him. He didn’t have time to hug her back as the woman stared at him thankfully.
“Where did you find him?” She asked, relieved.
“He approached me as I paid respects to someone I once knew.” Will explained.
“Well thanks for bringing him back safely.” The woman sighed, “There’s all sorts of predators out there trying to kidnap little boys.”
Will nodded, wincing. The woman started to walk away but stopped. She sighed, glancing back at Will. “Look I have to reward you for this great deed.” The woman joked, “What can I do for you?”
“Nothing.” Will winced, “It’s fine. I would have been angry at myself if I didn’t help.”
“Let me at least take you out to dinner.” The woman insisted, “We’re going right now.” Will opened his mouth to protest, but the woman shushed him. She smiled, causing his lips to curve into one. Will felt warmth in his chest, something he hadn’t felt in a long time.
“C’mon, what’s the worst that could happen? You fall in love with me?” The woman teased.
“Alright, I’ll go. What’s your name?” Will asked her, chuckling.
“You can call me Molly.” The woman smiled, pleased with herself, “And yourself?”
“Will.” Will sighed, walking to his car, “Where are we going?”
“Just follow us.” Molly called back, waving.
It was hard for Will to believe that, in about three years, they would be happily married and living the perfect life.
