Joe Pesci's rant in Goodfellas wasn't a perfect fit, but a small part of it was suitable for her purposes. “I'm here to fuckin' amuse you?” she asked in light reply, sounding genuinely surprised. With no pause, she continued, “Guess I better say something interesting then. Hmm...” Her tone became very matter-of-fact: “Silver—Silver-109—is actually a rare byproduct of the fission of uranium or plutonium. So unlike every other kind of cloud, mushroom clouds actually do have a silver lining!”
She smiled pleasantly—perhaps too pleasantly considering the topic she’d just broached—and then immediately pivoted in a chipper fashion. “Your hair’s really quite nicely styled and looked after, but I’ll admit I’m curious given its color: does the carpet match the drapes?”
