AYY check it out! This little fucker here is the Vampire Cat enemy from Dragon Quest 3. You encounter it fairly early in the game, and a palette swap version appears in a later cave. In the 1991 NA release, the palette swap's name is Catula, which as some of you LONG long-timers will know, was the screen name I used for most of my online existence, dating back to at least 2004 or so! This is the very monster that inspired the name. A bit later, circa the 2010s, when the name "Catula" was often already taken, I updated it to BlackCatula (if only because I like black cats!), and now you know my pre-Space Vixen backstory!

I'm so happy this specific monster appeared in the anime!
