Nevermind. Jaxx is a LITTLE hammy. Not nearly as bad as Caden and Taki, though.
Suri’s English voice actress in particular is REALLY AWESOME. The emotions in her voice sound so real!

Forgot to mention, but it seems Emi only sounded hammy in the fight with Jaxx.
I finally think I know what Orion’s voice reminds me of! He reminds me of the Twilight Zone guy!

Some of the dialogue changes are definitely improvements, but that doesn’t make Caden’s hammy lines any less terrible, show.

I’ve decided I’m gonna be catching up on Cells at Work before I continue any other liveblogs. I’d like to just focus on this for now, and when I’ve finished season 1 (which is only thirteen episodes anyway) I’ll continue more shows.
I’ll still be watching the subs for the primary liveblog. Then I’ll come back and watch the dubs in this format.

Isaac has the perfect voice. It sounds so soft and nice.

...Amelia please. I’m already a little salty that you get more fanart and attention than any of the other interesting bacteria. (Not that I don’t love Amelia, but I’d like to see the others get some attention. The bacteria are already low on fandom content compared to the cells.)
But now you also get a normal voice when Caden sounds like... Like the hammiest motherfucker?! Amelia please.

Boy. The ham. I think that’s more the script writer’s thing this time.

I just made the strangest noise. It was a mix between a screech and a whine. Well actually it was a mix of a lot of things, but those were the basic parts.
Like, neither the manga or the sub have this hammy dialogue.
Why didn’t they just keep the dialogue the same for the dub?
I forgot what a chatterbox Caden is. I love him so much. (Sorry, this is a rare moment when I get to spend some time gushing about my boy.)
See him? He is baby.
Also, Caden you could have just... Moved. They wouldn’t have caught you if you just moved over.

Cells at Work dub Ep.1 (Part 2/3)
I’m smiling like a giant dumbass now. This was one of my favorite moments from Cells at Work, and I don’t know why.
I just really love Caden’s personality... I mean, what we get to see of it.
Okay, voice actor. You have made me happy with that line. Now I can sorta visualize (auditorialize? What do you mean auditorialize isn’t a word? It should be!) this as Caden’s actual voice. But I know you’re gonna ham it up even more before this is over.
This just in: Auditorialize is now a word. It means like... Visualizing. But for sounds. It’s when you imagine a sound.
Aaaand, there’s the ham.

Liza warned me that they gave you guys cliche 80′s anime villain voices. She told me to be prepared, but I was not fucking prepared.
I keep thinking I’m getting used to it. I keep thinking, “Hey this isn’t so bad,” and then it slaps me in the face again with how hammy it sounds.
Not gonna lie, I kinda prefer Oren’s deeper voice in the sub.
This voice just... Feels weird on him.

I never thought I’d be upset to see Caden. But he just said “CURSES” like it was something he says every day. Also, that thing just happened again. I thought, “Huh, this kinda sounds natural. It sounds like he’s just talking instead of hamming it up for a role on stage.” THEN IT TOOK A DIVE. It back-handed me with that ham.
Caden, I love you, my precious baby. Even if you sound like an actor in the cheesiest movie ever. Also apparently Liza’s been writing a fanfiction where she made a society for the bacteria and you accidentally fell in love with a streptococcus (like Taki). So uh... That’s a thing now.
This dude sounds more rude in the dub. Was he not intended to sound rude in the Japanese version, or is it just easier to pick up speech inflections in your native language?
