“so let me warn you again...” jaebum starts off while looking at the bowl of melted chocolate like it has personally offended him. “i am a kitchen hazard so this probably won’t go very well.” there’s a billion and one reasons that he can think of, all more than enough to send him running away from this cooking class but one look at his companion is really all it takes too keep him in seated in place.
jaebum curses how the universe seems to continuously conspire against him; using his softheartedness and tricking him into situations like this. he sighs aloud, eyeing the bowl once more and raising the whisk like his most holy weapon. he supposes it won’t be so bad to try again if it will make mina happy.
“so espresso is supposed to go with chocolate, right? and they’re both your favorites if i remember correctly.”
“Alright, we got all our ingredients for this and we have a recipe....so everything should fall into place now, right? No errors? No mistakes? Provided we stick to the recipe and follow the rules strictly...” Ji Hyo said, peering at the recipe that she had searched up on the internet.
“I honestly rarely ever cook for myself unless it’s microwavable or instant or ramen,” she chuckled. “So this will be different.”
There were always moments when Ji Hyo seemed to have a spur of the moment idea to do something but a lot of the times it left her scrambling with a plan to actually follow through on whatever idea popped into her mind.
Today, it was cooking and Mina had been the (un)lucky one who she had seen at the grocery store and eagerly invited to join her.
holiday: i’ll write our characters celebrating a holiday together
this was the worst holiday.
eunwoo raved over orange jack-o-lanterns and gushed about red and white candy canes. meanwhile, he scrunched his nose at tacky conversation hearts and chocolate roses.
other holidays were loaded with cheer and warmth. valentine’s day was different. it was all on the surface, and it trusted its profit on those with simple hearts. saps were fooled into the pinks and pastels. everyone was dedicated to a love that would never last. it was fake.
eunwoo was no pessimist. in fact, he was sickeningly optimistic. it was february fourteenth that happened to plague him with a twenty-four hour flu.
“mina?” the card peered curiously at the girl, shifting his body behind the front door. company was not expected, so he was selling the just-rolled-out-of-bed look nicely. “what are you doing here?”
“don’t you know what day it is?” mina grinned. now, he realized she came with full arms.
“thursday?” eunwoo was lost. his plans to mope all day were botched once she budged in. he tried to comb through his mussed hair with his fingers, watching her set down some bags on the counter.
“you’re cute,” she giggled, and the sound of crinkling plastic added another tone of chimes.
sure, he hated valentine’s day, but he loved sweets. so, he was less miffed as she revealed the heart-shaped boxes, shimmying off their lids to display the rows of chocolates. before he could speak, mina stuffed one in his mouth.
his next words were unintelligible thanks to the velvety thickness on his tongue.
“don’t talk with your mouth full,” she chided with a fond smile. “now, get dressed. you’re taking me on a date tonight.”
eunwoo rolled his eyes.
it was against his nature to turn her down. his grunts and overall reluctance didn’t seem to faze her. he didn’t have the words.
sooner or later, he would kill her with kindness — all in a rather backwards way.
