everyone is so convinced that their school system is the universal default and everything they read in school is The Normal Thing To Read In School and therefore if you didn't read that specific combo then you have somehow been failed. what a silly question, they say, we did these in middle school, of course. what an absurd poll, we all did these in high school. what do you mean you didn't have a Mythology class at school, they say. what you mean you didn't read Antigone in high school, everybody reads Antigone in high school (it is not remotely on the curriculum here. ftr)

so here is my combination of classical authors that were on the curriculum. what do you mean, you haven't read juvenal's sixteen satires. what do you mean, nobody made you read the letters of the younger pliny. and you haven't even heard of dinner with trimalchio?? wow smh we did this in secondary school i thought everybody did that (i did not think everybody did that)

hello sorry for intruding. was reading the tags on my disability post and I do encourage getting a cane if you think it would help. often w the solid non collapsible ones you can also switch the tip to a wider one that balances better, if tipping is a primary concern (i find the narrow standard tip is enough for me, to each their own). the places that sell them generally won't stop you from walking around the store w them if you need a trial run (handle height should be about where your wrist hangs w a limp arm). do what you've gotta do & good luck out there

Thanks for your message! Not intruding at all. My biggest issue is that my legs…jiggle? Kind of like the muscles are contracting and releasing or like I’m jiggling my leg while standing, which means sometimes my knees kind of give out momentarily. It’s fine most of the time and doesn’t cause much issue when walking even if I do look a little drunk, but on bad days standing is harder.

I’ve got a couple of foldable canes at home for my granny when she comes to stay so I was planning on bringing it with me for a concert I’m going to in a fortnight so we shall see! (I’m roughly the same height as my granny so if they work for her the size should be fine for me too.) Thank you for the information though – I’ll definitely bear it in mind.

Hi I just want to clarify about the amended list in a recent reblog of yours.

I created it but I deleted and remade my account years ago due to being bullied off the site on my old main (I would prefer not to link my old and new urls hence I am on anon).

The list is a verbatim list from a variety of sources available in 2019/2020, when LGBTQ terms in Welsh were very hard to find online. In the last 6 years there's been an explosion in content which is super good. But I wouldn't dismiss that list due to either:

a) having grammatical mistakes (again, these were copied verbatim from the handful of online webpages that featured queer Welsh terminology and a few archaic Welsh words (i.e. 19th century look ungrammatical but often are just. Because the guys coining/copying these were cishet and didn't really care as long as it made their dictionary bigger).

and b) Some of the coined words in this list have been withdrawn by myself and are no longer serious proposals. But also it's not true that we already had words for some of these. We definitely didn't at the time.

I just wanted to say this because I think it cheapens how far we've come in terms of terminology to be so flippant about our situation. Now yeah we have more terms and more people using them. But a few years ago? You wouldn't have heard someone use LHDT. Everyone defaulted to LGBT and to English for most topics. Even when we've had terms for 50+ years.

Anyway, if anything, take my original list with a pinch of salt, but also don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. You get me?

Thank you for weighing in! I don’t speak Welsh but I do remember talking to you about your research when you had just started the linked list. It’s great to see that people’s support for LHDT terminology has grown over the past few years.

gonna be real with you: 13 minutes is a longer video than i have the capacity to watch lmao. but i googled him and it looks like he's an asnac, nice. it looks like he graduated in 2012 so there's a chance he overlapped with a few of my asnac friends (possibly in final year when they were in first year) but i will not dox them by tagging them outright in this post haha

actually he was probably the year below one of my offline asnac friends who is a folk musician i know from the pub, since i think he finished 2011. so he probably knew him a bit. asnacs tend to mingle a lot between year groups. that said, student theatre types usually spend more time at the ADC than in their department, so on the other hand, maybe they never met

anyway. asnacs get around. for such a small department they sure do pop up all over the place.
