Hey Foodie Fam! 🍽 Today I ordered grilled salmon with a house salad and lemon poppy seed vinaigrette...I got grilled salmon with a caesar salad. So, I'm often asked how hard is it to be both coeliac and vegan AND live on the road (I, Sam, am currently working on tour until 8th December) ... well this is my haul from Carrefour today. I am working in Paris this week and cannot afford to eat out so I buy whatever I can from supermarkets to make my own meals. Sadly not all plastic free but I will recycle and reuse whatever packaging I can (the organic vegetables are in a light wooden box). Celiac disease has been kicking my butt since Friday afternoon. I honestly don’t think I’ve been this sick from being glutened ever. I spent most of my Friday night up sick and the rest of the weekend exhausted, in a great amount of pain and not really able to eat or do much physically until yesterday afternoon. I’m still exhausted and in pain today. Definitely not ready to work this week. I’m just hoping I start feeling a lot better sooner than later. It’s really frustrating to have a disease that can really be so out of your control sometimes even with trying to be as cautious as possible. I went to a place that has been ok for other celiac folks close to my job, ordered something that was supposed to be gluten free, let them know I have celiac but still ended up very sick. At least I had Aaron and our fur babies to keep me company. I’m just disappointed because I really wanted to be productive and get some work done this weekend. But also scared because I worry about the unseen damage that’s occurring inside my body because of all this. Anyway I hope to have some more fun art updates for you soon. I have 3 small portraits that are all getting closer to completion. I’m back to work today at my 9-5 after a week off and I really can’t say that I’m ready to return 😅 my anxiety is high and I’d like to crawl under a rock to hide a while. I’ve been having a little bit of a rough go of it with my celiac disease lately (which is definitely part of my anxiety issues). Time away and eating out meant much less control over food choices and having to trust that food being prepared is not getting cross contaminated. Unfortunately for me, there was definitely cross contamination. The hardest part is how much my energy gets zapped and my emotional well being tanks. I guess you could say I’m feeling tired of being sick and tired. Anyway, if you’re having a hard time on this Monday morning, know that you aren’t alone. Just gotta keep your head up.
