8 with Dark please and thank you
So I tried not to, but yes, this could be considered a sequel or part of the same sequence of events as two other prompts I answered for Dark and the DA. You can read the first one here and the second one here .
8. Breathtaking Kiss

It’s a rare thing to catch Dark while she’s in Celine’s form, but it happens. You imagine she tries to avoid it when there’s even the slightest chance Wilford will appear. It’s never a good idea to test the limits of someone already playing jump ropes with the lines between insanity and lucidity.
As a result, Dark usually only approaches you with Celine’s face when the tower is nigh on empty. Or when it’s an odd hour of the morning or evening, when the other Egos are far more likely to be asleep or unlikely to interrupt your conversations.
Not that you’re usually a willing participant in these conversations, but you usually stick it out on the off-chance that you can mock Dark endlessly somehow.
“And how exactly have you been settling in?” Dark questions, lips quirked upward in false interest. She’s found you in the empty conference room.
Your sleeping habits are haphazard at best so it’s usually a good bet to find you somewhere like this, going over the upcoming shows and scripts the Egos have planned and trying to lower the fatality rate of guest stars and interns.
You roll your eyes at Dark. “I’d be impressed with your consideration if not for the fact that it’s been,” you glance dramatically at your watch, “four months since I got here.”
“You mean since I brought you here,” Dark corrects. The only indicator that your response has annoyed her is in the way her aura fractures into red and blue before dissipating.
“No, I think I meant since I broke out of the place you trapped me in, or did you think I’d forgotten about that?” You manage to keep your voice level. Matter of fact. You have no intention of losing your cool around Dark in this form. As dangerous as Dark is when he wears Damien’s face, in that you sometimes get a deep ache when you see your old friend and know it’s not him, when she’s wearing Celine’s face, you know it’s not her, but the presence nonetheless is still there. You’ve long since realized that Dark has the most terrifying qualities of both Damien and Celine, and this is part of why Dark always gets her way. The siblings were both painfully persuasive in their own special ways.
Dark’s smile turns into something feral and pleased. With Celine’s face, the gesture looks simultaneously intimidating and, you’re not too proud to admit it, highly attractive. “Ah yes. I don’t believe we’ve discussed that, have we? Your miraculous return, that is?”
“And I have no intention of changing that,” you respond. You shut the binder of plans that Katherine put together for the next month of Wilford’s interviews and stand from the desk. “Now if you’ll excuse me–”
“No, I don’t think I will.” Dark steps in front of you. Not necessarily blocking you, as you could easily go around her, but you’re eager to hear what she thinks will be a convincing argument. “You seem unwilling to discuss anything with me. Your mysterious reanimation, our rather interesting connections–”
“You can’t make a declaration over something that’s only happened twice.” You step around her and keep walking for the exit to the conference room. “And you’re the last person I’d want to talk to about this.”
“So you’re not the slightest bit curious,” Dark’s voice grows a touch angrier, “as to why and how you’re here? Or whether your presence will last? If you tell me,” she reappears next to you and you stop walking again with a frustrated groan when the red of her aura bleeds into your vision, “then perhaps I can make sure you stay here. Alive. Permanently.” She leans towards your ear. “You know the power I have.”
You huff a laugh. A bitter, disbelieving one. You turn to face her, against your better judgment. “If you don’t know how I’m here, what makes you think that I need your assistance? Are you that desperate for my secrets, Dark?”
Your “insolence” elicits that blinding, fractured blinking of colors from Dark’s form. But oddly enough, in the next moment, Dark laughs. She almost sounds…impressed.
You realize what she’s doing when she puts her hand behind your neck, tangles her fingers in your lengthening curls, but you don’t stop her when she pulls you in and captures your lips with hers.
Like the previous times, reality splinters as you collide with her, the gray energy about her body scattering away from your skin, but Dark has an entirely different approach this time. She moves far softly, her hand moving from your hair to stroke your cheek and trail across your jaw. Her other hand comes up to grip into the hem of your shirt. Rather than smashing the boundaries of the physical world, the effects appear far less devastating, a small thunderstorm compared to past hurricanes.
You don’t stop her, because, fine, this time is far less like war, but it’s no less a battle, and you’re nothing if not a willing opponent in this take-and-take-more that Dark has started between you. You may not win, but you will make sure that Dark doesn’t win either.
When she pulls away, you let the moment settle and return to before. Dark looks at you, appearing rather pleased with herself, as she presses another soft kiss to the corner of your mouth, hand splayed across your cheek.
She finally allows the space between your faces to grow. You sigh, because damn, she’s getting better at this, and then you pull away until her hand drops. “If you were thinking three times the charm, I’m going to have to disappoint you. And you know how much I love to do that.”
You leave Dark in the conference room, smirking to yourself when you hear the walls behind you crack and shake as she lets out an angry, frustrated yell.
