So, I had an idea for Rain World au/crossover for Centaurworld (everything can be turned into RW if I try hard enough...). It's not yet well thought-out but I wanted to share
Basically, all centaurs are genetically engineered creatures (mostly slugcats). The iterator that created them is complete shit at socializing, so he tries to distract himself from his loneliness and boredom by throwing himself into creature creation and artificial "perfect" ecosystem building. He created a LOT of creatures, each species is kept in an enclosed habitat, separate from others, with "perfect" conditions being controlled artificially (that includes food being provided without needing to hunt for it/gather it)
His name is Forlorn Elk :))) And his nickname in anonymous chats is "NK" (aka Nowhere King. But Maybe I'll change it)
The only other iterator he ever actually tried talking to was Unsolved Mystery (this world's Mysterious Woman), but when they started getting closer he quickly spiraled and pushed her away
His constant experiments and growing stress led to him screwing up and getting rot - even worse than Pebbles, because in Elk's case one of the first things the rot started destroying was his "nervous system", quickly turning him into a helpless pile of biomechanical parts, unable to do anything about his situation, even while he looked completely fine from the outside
In this AU the herd and Horse are slugcats (I'll write their names and abilities lower), while Raider is a scavenger. Raider gets to keep her name, The Rider, while Horse's name now is The Warrior (I might change it)
The plot is: after Forlorn Elk gets rot and becomes unable to keep controlling his creations' habitats, they start falling apart. Some creatures starve, some die, some manage to survive long enough. Around that time The Warrior and The Rider get separated on Elk's territory (I'm not yet sure how or why). Just like in canon, The Warrior teams up with the herd (and eventually befriends them) and tries to find The Raider. Eventually, they reunite, save Elk's creations and teach them how to live in the real world :D
Now to the characters. I tried to keep their abilities simple and as close to the original as possible.
Glandale's name is The Thief. She can store more items in her stomach (maybe like two or three instead of just one) and can carry one additional spear on her back (like Hunter!). She's also the biggest or the second biggest in the herd/group (I haven't decided yet)
Zulius's name here is Attractor! He can shoot out threads of web, temporarily stunning enemies or pulling objects closer (inspired by his Shapely Mane)
Durpleton's name is The Spark. He can glow softly at will or create a flash, temporarily stunning all enemies around him (inspired by Sparkle Blinkies). He's the heaviest in the group, so he can drop himself on enemies Gourmand-style (Durpledrop!!), though the damage is lower. He's also either the biggest or the second biggest
Ched's name is Champion. He can glide (like a flying squirrel). He's the smallest and the fastest (slower than Rivulet, but quicker than average!)
Wammawink's name is The Caretaker. She and the shamans are the only ones who have more than one "active" ability. She has easier time taming lizards, starts with worse reputation with scavengers, can block attacks (with a cooldown, ofc) and can spend her foodpips to create food for someone else to eat (probably with some restrictions too)
Horse, as I already said, is The Warrior here. I don't have a clear idea about her yet, but she's been raised by scavengers (The Rider's tribe) and I really want her to be huge and have lizard characteristics, so The Rider can, well, ride on her back. Maybe her parent(s) were an artificial lizard/slugcat hybrid(s), but died for whatever reason, so scavengers took the weird little slugpup in. I'll have to think about it more🤔
Anyways, that seems to be all for now. Really hope I can draw all of them soon >:')))
