Both Dipper (he/him) and Mabel (she/mew/sparkle) regress to about 2-5 years old
They actually didn't start regressing until their parents divorced and their Grunkles got full custody of them when they were fourteen
They almost never regress without the other, forever twins lol
Dipper regresses to cope with their parents treatment of him and their divorce, as well as wanting a childhood where he isn't forced to be a girl
Mabel regresses to cope their parents divorce as well as her fears of growing up and Dipper leaving mew
There's also definitely some lasting trauma from experiencing the apocalypse at age 12 that they both experience
Dipper likes playing in the woods, being read to and watching Stanford work while he tells him stories of the multiverse
Mabel likes looking for cute cryptids, coloring/arts and crafts and, helping Stanley make new attractions for the Mystery Shack
Stanley worries about the kids because he knows this is response to trauma but he absolutely adores taking care of them when their little, it reminds him of when they were that age the first time
Stanford feels like this might have been an all too generous blessing from the axolotl, letting him protect and care for his niblings that he never got to see before the age of 12

He's got kind of a wide age range when he regresses, it can be anywhere from 3 to 12
Luckily for Stan, he's fairly calm and rarely ever gets fussy. If he's feeling older, he'll just sit and read most of the time, but if he's on the younger side, Stan will sit with him and put on a cartoon.
If he's sleepy, Stan puts on a documentary in the background because Ford enjoys educational stuff but the narrator's voice also helps him sleep
Ford doesn't wear his trench coat when little, he always takes it off and just drops it somewhere (unless he's old enough to hang it up). That's sometimes how Stan finds out he's little somewhere, is if he just finds his coat left on the floor
Stan will mostly call him Buddy or Bug, his real name will sometimes pull him out of regression
He has a paci! It's dark blue and decorated with stars. Stan got it for him because he's got a bad habit of chewing on his hands or putting things in his mouth when he's little
Head scritches all the way, he's such a big fan of physical touch and affection since he went so long without it. If you scratch his head it's a quick way to put him to sleep
On the middlespace side of things, when he's older, he likes to help around the house where he can. Stan will give him chores like dishes or sweeping
He likes to go outside and look for bugs, but Stan has to go with him to keep him from getting lost (or from running into the magical creatures of the woods)
He has a little notebook dedicated to just bugs he finds. I think he's super into entomology as a kiddo
He LOVES fantasy books and anything related
Stan has caught him pretending to be a dragon on more than one occasion
And random headcanon I didnt know where to put: Even Bill won't mess with him when he's regressed. The first time he witnessed Ford regress, he stopped whatever mockary he was doing and took him back home/ gave him a more pleasant dreamscape

okay but THIS. this is beautiful.
so when stan and ford discover that dipper and mabel start regressing, they basically just treat them like normal at first.
it doesn't take long, though, for new patterns to emerge when the two are regressed. since mabel likes coloring, every time they go to the store, she gets a new coloring book. dipper loves scooby anything, so his snacks are always scooby gummies and scooby graham crackers that ford always makes sure he gets (if the shelf is empty he Will Ask and if the store is out, he Will Travel until he gets the goods).
stan surprisingly ends up liking coloring, and he will sit there for hours coloring with the two. he isn't much neater than them, and ford thinks that's hilarious
meanwhile ford likes to take the regressors on mystery hunts for simple, kind creatures that are safe for kiddos
...he makes up a lot of creatures for them to look for
wendy gives them piggyback rides all the time, and it is as cute as it sounds
soos just has the best stories and best narrator voice, and the twins love listening to him and playing with him
they don't regress to the same age, which is a bit weird for them. mabel regresses younger, around 3-5, and dipper regresses around 5-7. it's possible for them to both be 5, but that doesn't happen often. dipper takes responsibility as Clearly Much Bigger Bro very seriously
