Le 824 est un engin de la société britannique Yorkshire Engine Company construit sous license  en Espagne par la SECN pour la Companyia General de Ferrocarrils Catalans (CGFC), devenue ensuite  Ferrocarriles de Via Estrecha ou FEVE puis plus tard FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat). Celui ci a perdu son moteur diesel Roll's Royce d'origine au profit d'un Deutz de 260 CV. La transmission est une Twindisk (transmission hydraulique utilisant le gasoil moteur comme fluide de transmission).
