Shirahoshi calls Vivi Vivi-chan-sama, which implies that she copied Rebecca in calling her Vivi-chan and then appended -sama to be polite, and that’s just... really cute, guys.
One Piece Ch. 907
You say that and yet...
What’s a king to a God?
The fact that Vivi just marches up to Lucci and grabs his collar and threatens him...she’s fearless and I love her for it.
Hello, love your blog! So, in chapter 907, when viceadmiral Gion is talking to Garp about Luffy, she says “お前さんの孫” does the form of お前 becomes more polite by adding the さん at the end of the word?
yeah! i’ve actually mentioned it before with jinbe, who uses this sometimes as well- for example, he used to refer to luffy as omae-san before eventually dropping the formality (during their fight post-marineford, iirc) and just using omae. it’s a pretty unusual speech pattern but it does show up now and again.
...Okay I do remember this happening because I have giraffe-radar and coincidentally decided to check the manga around this time and well. I was not unhappy.
On the other hand, what Kaku’s saying certainly isn’t wrong, and I’ve seen...differing interpretations of this but the main thing I want to highlight is that he’s done this before and at least in that instance, given that it genuinely seemed as if he didn’t want anything to happen to the other shipwrights, I’m inclined to take his words at face value (that is, regardless of his own feelings, he knows that the higher world powers are perfectly capable of eliminating anyone for any reason so it probably did save some people one way or the other).
Nice to see some of our old Marine friends in this chapter but Garp just thinks the fact that Luffy has two Emperors fighting over him is hilarious so you know he’s not in a hurry to do anything.
Hina also mentions the Rocks Pirates in this scene which I think is the first time we hear about them, too...
