Her Illustrious Majesty had never spoken to anyone the way she had Viola. That was clear to Olympia when she held the girl, who she'd never spoken directly to, as she sobbed. The girl whose own mother hadn't shown at her engagement, bridal, or bachelorette parties. Who'd be her daughter in twelve-or-so hours. It didn't matter that she'd expressed disappointment of her son's choice on numerous occasions, that the girl's actions were in line with society's rumors of the young Queen, or that The Union's honesty could be more isolating than Francesim's protocol. Olympia was there; her subconcious had led her to the ceremonial room where, due to tradition, the girl would spend the night alone. She thought of her daughters.
