Hyper Projection Engeki Haikyuu #GatherRoundGekidanHaikyuu

In light of Engeki Haikyuu (and all other stage shows) having to cancel their tours during this pandemic, Kouhei (1st Tanaka) kicked off a hashtag on Twitter to get all members of Gekidan Haikyuu (the Haikyuu cast present and former) to chime in.  Many are quoting their characters’ lines and adjusting them to fit the pandemic situation as well as giving other words of support to each other and to fans.

Yuunosuke is using the line Atsumu is thinking at the crowd: “Don’t interrupt me when I’m serving, you noisy pigs,” at the beginning of the Inarizaki match against Karasuno... but instead the anger is at the virus for disrupting their tour.

A couple of things here: 

1) I like how the mask is so prominently in the foreground, along with Wyper holding the bazooka he used earlier, using the visual language of the page to say, yes. This is the same person Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji fought at the beginning of the arc, and, yes, this is the person Nami saw at the Upper Yard. 

2) There are a lot of thorny issues presented within the Skypiea arc, and I’m not going to pretend Oda got it all “right” or if there’s even a “right” way for everything to be resolved, but I think there’s something to be said about pretty much all of the named Shandorians calling out Wyper about this attitude over the course of the arc. What he’s essentially doing is presenting the nuclear option as the only option, and he doesn’t care if his whole tribe gets destroyed because of it. 

Wyper’s a very angry dude with a single-minded focus: To fulfill Kalgara’s dream. He has the right to be angry, but the actions he takes because of his anger to fulfill his ambition are pretty self-destructive. That’s a pretty big deal when you’re one of the de facto leaders of your tribe.
