They really are the same person
I just want everyone to take a moment to appreciate how fucking insane this is
So how many innocent civilians do you suppose Kizaru accidentally killed with this one attack alone?
I rather like the reason Rayleigh gives for not just telling Robin the secret of the True History outright. Everyone experiences the world differently, and for as many similarities Luffy has to Roger I like the idea that there might be one major way where he chooses a different path than his predecessor.
It's also interesting when looking at this whole conversation that Rayleigh isn't actually looking at Robin. They're talking with one another, but he's very deliberately facing a different direction than she is.
This fits well with the revelation that Luffy's ultimate dream is more than just being the Pirate King. If that was the only thing his heart was set on there's no reason to say no spoilers like this, but to Luffy the journey is just as important as the destination.
This scene is important for a bunch of different reasons, but I cannot get over how fucking ominous Oda has Rayleigh look with the anime glasses shine. Just an excellent way to obfuscate his expression since you can't see his eyes.
