there's nothing new to be said about these panels to the knowers but having them juxtaposed drives me crazy

especially considering the popular interpretation that oda uses dialogue bubbles, etc. to convey an amount of emotional distance between what shanks is outwardly saying and how he truly feels

covering young shanks' face with his hair in ch 19 gives a similar sense of that distance. i don't think he ever truly considered leaving buggy's side.

If you want to get real technical, Franky did meet *one* member of Roger's crew

although I suppose him having abandonment issues is a good enough reason for Franky to not like pirates at this point in time
