Hear me out on Metal as Denji and his heart is Sonic (or smth like that)
"Everybody is after my Sonic's heart but what about MY heart?!"🗣️🗣️🗣️
csm231 scattered thoughts
The way Fujimoto explores Chainsawman as an entity that ultimately traps Denji in a cycle of violence and fleeting dreams remind me of how freedom was the same for Eren- a pipe dream that enslaved him
When Eren finally reaches the other side of the ocean, we see the stark difference in his reaction. Armin's pure joy and bliss, finally seeing the outside world and full of eagerness to explore it. Alongside Mikasa, who was happy to just eat ice cream for the 1st time
Eren on the other hand seemed passive on the outside, hiding his immense despair and disappointment that the world was not what he imagined, that achieving "their dream" didn't bring him happiness
For Denji, it's been a never-ending cycle of this realisation. He's been chasing after dreams and ideals without self-reflection this entire time, never stopping to ask if this is good for him, or what the "normal life" he wants actually means.
But at the back of his mind, there always something nagging at him, something that didn't feel quite right . As fleeting as his moments of connection with Asa, as heated as his physical intimacy with Yoru, his feelings of happiness evaporated just as fast.
I think Pochita's intent wasn't to say "you were far happier when your life was shitty" or that he was better off rotting in that run down shack. However, when your everyday goal is just survival, when you barely have time to relax without starving, there is a degree of blissful ignorance dreaming gives you.
Denji was free to dream about "normalcy" as much as he wanted, ignoring the struggles of forming relationships, holding down a job or taking care of family that everyday people go through because he didnt NEED to. He existed outside of it.
By forming of contract with him, Pochita also places a curse on Denji. A life of immortality that facilitates his chase without reflection, an escape from his issues that he doesn't confront. And above all, it bind him to the chaos and expectation the entire world has on chainsawman.
And so, after seeing his dearest friend repeat the cycle over and over again, Pochita breaks their contract. Swallowing his existence and severing his connection to Denji, in hopes that this time, the cycle can be broken- But Denji must do it himself and find his answer.
Perhaps in a world, where Denji isn't Chainsawman, where Eren wasn't chained by his own nature, they could both find peace. But it would involve rewriting the story and altering reality itself, which is what Pochita chose to do.
He is NOT cupid, but—
I posted it on the wrong blog jajaja. Here it goes again.
This one was dusting on my files. I may redraw it some day, idk, I think I can make both prettier.
ZosanAs that Asa and Denji panel. I think they give the vibe of that panel, just enemies to lovers!
💦 THAT scene, but it's SHABIG
