श्री रुद्रम् नमकम् चमकम् (Sri Rudram - Namakam Chamakam)
Sri Rudram is a hymn dedicated to Rudra. Shri Rudram is also known as Sri Rudraprasna, Śatarudrīya, and Rudradhyaya. It is part of the Yajur Veda and one of the greatest of the Vedic hymns. Sri Rudram is in two parts. The first part, chapter 16 of the Yajurveda, is known as Namakam because of the repeated use of the word "Namo" in it. The second part, chapter 18 of the Yajurveda, is known as chamakam because of the repeated use of the words "Chame". Chanting the Rudram is considered to be of great benefit. The Rudram chanting can be done with or without the accompaniment of a Vedic yagna ritual. When accompanied with the Vedic fire ritual, it is called the Rudra Yagnam. Lord Shiva after Bhasmasura was killed with the help of Lord Vishnu, performed the Tandava Dance and then performed the "Rudra Yagna" for the betterment of humanity. The place where the Rudra Yagna was performed is where the "Sri Kalahasti" Temple stands now.
It is mentioned in the Jābala Upanishad that the recitation of the Śatarudrīya leads to immortality. The hymn is also referred to in the Shiva Purana.
