"You're really gonna have whiskey rather than champagne to celebrate?"

"Yes. I don't like the taste of champagne, it's too sweet"

I scoff, "Next you're gonna tell me you're not a dessert male" Eris doesn't respond, merely shrugging his shoulders.

I narrow my eyes at the silent confession, "You are a disgrace to society"

"To today's victory, and many more to come" He toasts, clinking our glasses.

"That's the spirit" I declare, downing my drink in one go. I almost choke on it, my eyes going wide.

"Holy shit, that's strong. Why is it so strong? It's champagne." I question, coughing slightly as my throat burns with the liquid. I pick the bottle up off the side table between us, scrutinising the label just to be sure it is champagne.

"It's Autumn champagne" Eris explains, as if that clears up anything.

"Are Autumn fae just immune to alcohol poisoning?"

"We do tend to have a stronger tolerance for it, yes" Eris replies, his eyes, the same colour as the amber drink in his glass track me, making my heart beat faster and a flush crawls up my neck. If anyone asked, I'd blame it on the roaring fire in the hearth, or the travel here. Anything rather than admit the effect he has on me.

I try to distract myself by focusing on not spilling while I pour myself another glass. Eris doesn't comment, but I can see the smile he hides behind his own glass as he takes a sip. His adams' apple bobs with the act, and suddenly I can't breathe. ...
