I got bored and wanted to make a mask inspired by a good boy that wasn't tales related for a change. I think this mask is one of the nicest I've made in a while even nicer than the one from earlier today. Flash makes this one look blue for some reason. I assure you it is very teal

This probably won't be answered but I will ask anyway! I am having trouble writing a build up for a character to remove their mask. I don't want it to sound to cliche or corny, and I want people to feel the emotion behind the character finally taking the mask off. Do you have any tips or suggestions for this? Thanks so much!

I think that if you want there to be a huge emotional removal of the mask, you need to make a point of the character wearing the mask, and discuss why they wear the mask. What does the mask represent to the character? To the audience? Is it meant to protect the character’s identity? Or hide their face (note the difference between the two)? What is so important about the mask, and what is important about it’s removal? 

Looking at examples of ‘appearance changes’ in other media may help you. Usually, when a character drastically changes their appearance, for example cuts their hair, it signifies that the character has changed or gone through a significant event that has greatly affected them. 

I’m assuming there’s a reason, probably an important one, as to why your character is wearing a mask. Most people who wear masks feel that they need to wear it for some reason. The key for building up the removal of the mask is to show the reader why it was important in the first place. If you only mention the mask once or twice, with no emphasis as to what the significance of the mask is, then your character removing the mask isn’t going to come off as emotional in any way. Your reader should know why your character is wearing the mask, what the significance behind the mask is, and how much it means to the character (if you’re character is nonchalant about the mask, then your readers will be as well). 

Be careful not to dramatize the event to the point where the character seems like a show-off or annoying character though. If your character has kept the mask on as a way to protect themselves, their identity, or to give themselves a sense of security, they’ll probably be reluctant or nervous about taking the mask off. It won’t be easy for them. One way that might emphasize how hard it is for the character would be to show an initial attempt of the character in removing the mask, but failing because of their fear of removing it or something along those lines. 

Making your character human and relatable is also going to help with the emotional delivery of the mask removal. If your readers relate to and care about your character, then they will feel the emotion behind the mask removal more strongly. Building up and developing your characters into strong, relatable characters will help heighten the emotional impact of their actions.

Okay so I've made a Laphicet mask now so I've made own for every berseria character but Eleanor. I really wanted something that was fun but elegant for Phi because he's such a warm bouncy character but also regal. So I feel really good about this
