the wonderful thing about reality is that it is highly flexible. one minute, all is doom; the next, everything is abloom with possibility.

Thanks for the tag @konartiste ! I agree that this was *very* difficult! Here’s my best attempt, 2 of whom might as well be me at different ages and 2 of whom are very different from me in some respects but very same in others…
Clare from Derry Girls. Yes, alright. I cared *deeply* about my grades as a girl, and I was *terrified* of the prospect of breaking rules. I was *absolutely* that tightly wound (still am!) and *definitely* that pathetically deferential to authority. (This makes it sound like I hate Clare, but I don’t. I love that wee lesbian!!)
Claire from Fleabag. An uptight perfectionist with an intensely loving but strained relationship with a sibling who is extremely messy and dramatic? A little controlling and critical and awkward, but it’s coming from a genuine place of care and effort? Sometimes has a really bad haircut? It’s adult me!
Amy Jellicoe from Enlightened. Amy is a total mess, and I am not (see above — much too much of a Clare/Claire for that). BUT, Amy so desperately wants to be a good person, and she is always working SO HARD to do better and be better. And she CONSTANTLY gets in her own way; has set backs, large and small; and will probably never live up the standards she’s made for herself. But she keeps trying. She’s so HUMAN, and I relate deeply to her struggles.
Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec. Again, we’re taking a little license here, because I am NOT this energetic, extroverted optimist who is constantly overflowing with ridiculous ideas. But I definitely AM someone who is that passionate about public service! And more generally, the intensity of Leslie’s enthusiasm for her interests, her overachiever’s need for approval, and her passion for waffles and whipped cream all hit very close to home for me!
As I said, this was a super tough one. No pressure tags to @erathene @dancerinthestorm @rock-n-roll-fantasy or anyone else who’d like to try!

Thanks for the tag, @from-the-coffee-shop-in-edoras ! 😁 This was indeed fiendishly difficult but also a lot of fun. Not sure how accurate it really is but let’s go with these four:
Katara ("Avatar - The last Airbender") and Sophie Hatter ("Howl's Moving Castle" - especially book Sophie)
The dependable ones. The ones who organize. And who do NOT like people or things meddling with their well made plans. Mom friend vibes. Perfectionist lovers of checklists. Always (trying to) choose kindness. Opinionated. Snarky. Curious. Stubborn. Diplomats. Love water/the sea. Shrewd. Nerdy. Ever so often rather put upon by the more chaotic, flamboyant people in their lives and their shenanigans.
Still waiting for some awesome magic powers to turn up though.
Geoffrey Chaucer ("A Knight‘s Tale")
Enthusiastic pep-talker, cheerleader and praise-singer for anyone but myself. With a touch for the overdramatic at times. Prone to monologuing once excited about a topic. Purveyor and appreciator of biting sarcasm and black humour. Sadly not a writer.
Sheriff Jack Carter ("Eureka")
Don’t know if anyone still knows „Eureka“? It’s an immensely fun show about a former US Marshall who accidentally gets to be the sheriff of a small town populated exclusively by genius scientists and inventors. So it’s basically him running around confused by incessant tech talk and set-upon by very clever people doing incredibly dumb things; trying to tell them YES you do indeed need to pay your electricity bills and NO, breeding humongous bats with mind-controll abilities and setting them loose in the cafeteria just to see what happenes is NOT a good idea. To which, of course, no one listens so that he spends the rest of the episode chasing said bats around town before paying the electricity bills.
Well… that’s me. At least 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week. Only more paperwork and (tragically) less bats ^_^

No pressure tagging @nocompromise-noregrets , @sotwk and @marshmellin and anyone else who wants to give this a try! 😁
The character most like me in PJ Masks is Luna Girl! Bask in my moonlit glory!
I was told there was a character from Transformers who is a lot like me. His name is Beachcomber (Transformers Gen. 1)
I watched this a long time ago with my siblings. I must have been about 8 years old, when I first saw it. Perhaps it's time to rewatch, for old times' sake?
New way to meet the author?
