And also because I just recently listened to the Broadway Musical adaptation and got the hype around the narrative again. Musicals can do that to a person!

the urge to be a dude who’s kinda snarky but comedic relic, yet is drunk 60% of the time and potentially depressed. oh and also he’s living in the old days between either the 1770’s or 1950’s with a older wise guy who’s sorta adopted this feral stray cat as his son. and his name might also be Sidney/sydney

Sum things I drew last night

It's interesting to read A Tale of Two Cities in its original serialised parts.

This week Dickens:

closes off a question raised two weeks ago ("Who could that be with Mr. Lorry?"),

leaves unresolved questions raised last week (what will happen to Charles now? and "What other [denounced him]?"), and

opens a new question ("What purpose [does Sydney have]?" and what does he have to say to Barsad alone?)

This opening and closing of questions builds suspense and keeps readers coming back every week.

I'm sorry but that's how *different* Charles Darnay and Sydney Carton are supposed to look in the BBC adaptation of the new drama series of Dickens' 'A Tale Of Two Cities'.. Not two different actors who don't even look alike. They were doppelgangers ffs! that's the loophole😭!

I was discussing Tale of Two Cities with @silly-ehggy and mentioned the potential I saw in a Charles/Sydney fic where Charles saves Sydney from an abusive relationship with Striver.

And Song leans over into the conversation and says that I should make it so that Striver and Carton are going up in the ranks of French society so that Carton is even more reliant on Striver because without Striver, Carton is all alone, and that all the harmful activities Carton does become more normal when rich people do it, making people notice it less.

So. Let’s give a round of applause to Song, for the most brilliant idea I’ve ever fucking heard of.
