So I know it's just because they forgot to put Orlando's blue contacts in for that scene, but I can't stop thinking of like. In universe explanations as for why when Legolas is falling into hopelessness before the battle of Helms Deep, his eyes are pitch black.

"Too long have you watched her under your eyelids and haunted her steps."
Illustration based off of the 'your words are poison' scene, where, even as Eowyn is mourning over Theodred, Grima still lurks in the shadows.
I am genuinely proud of how this piece turned out, I tried to go for a classical painting look and I think it turned out splendid.
Sometimes I forget that (one of) my favorite parts of the Two Towers film-- which is Theodred's funeral and everything surrounding Theodred's death is just NOT in the book.
In the movie, everything surrounding his death just adds so much depth to every character around him-- not to mention is a wonderful catalyst and a tone setter for the dark times that Rohan was in!
Finding Theodred so mortally injured heightens Eomer's urge to fight back. Eowyn's sorrow grows as she gently begs her uncle to go to his dying son. Her genuine grief when she bears witness to Theodred's passing, a man whom she might have thought of as a brother for the majority of her life. Theoden's genuine despair when he wakes from his spell and realizes that his son has not only died, but has already been buried. Even Grima's stark indifference and sinister manipulation is amplified by how he treats Theodred's passing.
It just adds so much to the story. It's so good. Rest in Peace, Theodred. Good job haunting the narrative. Even if it is mostly the films.

Elizabeth, your uncle is dead.
Continuing my depictions of "missing scenes", the scene where William tells Elizabeth about Harlander.
She had to find out someway. After everything that has happened, William wouldn't in good conscience be able to keep his soon-to-be-wife in the dark about it. This burden of information was foisted upon him so unwillingly.
Victor says that it was his creation who killed him. Perhaps in the shock of the moment he was willing to accept everything he was told, but after that fire, William doesn't quite believe such a tale.
vers. w/o dialogue below the cut!
“Adam!” William blurted. Then he swore many mental expletives. The Thing stilled. It turned to face him. William was suddenly sweating profusely under his fur collar, and reflecting just how he’d somehow gotten himself into a terrible situation. He cleared his throat and wrung his hands. “Adam,” he said, and the Creature – or, he guessed, Adam, looked down at him - “your name.” [...] Oblivious to this, the Creature continued. “Do you not find it perverse to name me so? You would boldly name me as the first man?” [...] “You don’t understand,” William said, hushed, then looked about himself self-consciously. “It is not me that names you Adam but-” he struggled over a slight feeling of betrayal, “-but Victor.”
Some art portraying a scene from @aclever-username's fic A Little to the Left in which the wedding doesn't go entirely wrong and William ends up meeting/hiding the creature.
I love the characterization of William so much, and especially having him interact with Adam it's just everything I love !! There's even some franker-brothers angst in there too-- but that art is for another day. Anyways I highly recommend the read!!
Guillaume et Maman
The pain, the fear, the spinning in his head, and the burdening weight of his body, it was all gone. Death cradled William Frankenstein into her arms like a mother holding her infant son for the very first time.
William makes me feel so sad... someone tell him he tried his best...
Alt. version w/ just William below the cut--
Blood, the crimson spark of life. To bleed is to be humbled, as you are reminded you, too, are a mortal.
I love the symbolism in this movie so much, it's practically baked into my brain. What a burden it is to be a bringer of life... Let's cover him in blood!!

RĂan's Death of the Spirit
Something a bit more somber for today's @tolkienwomensweek contribution-- and my favorite out of the drawings I have made for the event. RĂan's death has always made me so sad... just thinking of her falling so deep into despair.
Annael beckoning her to simply look at her child or hold him, but she cannot bring herself to do so. All she can think of is the war... and her lost love, whom she longs to join.
Belladonna Took... and her introverted husband!
A little something for @tolkienwomensweek !!
A couple you don't see very often-- but I enjoy it when characters fall utterly in love with someone so contrasting from themself, such as Belladonna Took's love for Bungo Baggins. Yes, Bungo, by all accounts, is a boring bookworm but he is HER boring bookworm!! And Belladonna is so high-spirited and outgoing, she wants to take him and Bilbo on all the adventures!! Love them.

(frankenstein; or the modern prometheus; mary shelley)
On this day in history, William Frankenstein was murdered.
I had a dream that there was a Galadriel & Celeborn movie and it was just following them meeting and all of their other lore and experiences -- but Celeborn was played by Oscar Isaac.
I don't really know what to do with this information haha
I found out what to do with this information. Behold some sketches of the Oscar Isaac-ish Celeborn!
Character Thoughts: Part One- Frodo Baggins
Hello! School has had me incredibly busy, but I wanted to start a series where I do a deep dive into analyzing and interpreting Lord of the Rings / Silmarillion characters and talking about what they mean to me (these analyses will be mostly based on the books). Here is part one, Frodo Baggins!
Frodo is the embodiment of learning to live with a chronic illness. At the very beginning of Fellowship of the Ring, he is the quintessential hobbit— perhaps even more than the quintessential hobbit. He is described as unusually tall and fair, he is of course the richest person in the Shire after Bilbo leaves everything he owns to him, and he moves through life in comfortability. It is clear that he can even be a bit lazy at times, getting teased for being a bit chubby and waking up with aches at the very beginning of the journey. None of this is to say that he is not extraordinarily brave, however. He offers to take the Ring time and time again, first from the comfort of his home in Bag End and then at the council of Elrond, barely knowing what this journey will inflict upon him.
