Chasing Sunrise
Somehow I unearthed my old blog entries. Here’s one of those days… Fleeting sunlight, growing darkness The sky bleeds as the orange orb retreats…. I step in the shadows of the unknown. I cross the river of tears; Hear me Eros; breathe your light and heal my longing heart. And finally, the blanket as dark as the abyss has settled… Here I crouch under the sea of stars to which in tears I beg…

Chasing Sunrise
@holywitchkid
Considering the fact that Malcolm was a night owl, it was safe to say that if he didn’t have to his ass didn’t wake up before noon. When she had work Hannah was normally up and moving by 7am, stirring him only enough for a goodbye kiss, but even on her days off she couldn’t seem to sleep past 8. Not the kind of girl that felt the restless need to get up immediately upon her waking, she tended to stay in bed, rolling over onto her stomach and perusing the web on her phone, or in this case reading. She didn’t like to get out of bed without Malcolm if she could help it. Sunrise wasn’t found in the pinks and fiery oranges tangled like watercolors through the sky, instead it was chased up the lines of Malcolm’s torso, hiding in the sleep-mused brown strands of his hair. Sunrise happened with that first shift of toned muscles and the way he purposefully stole the bedsheets from off her form. Sunrise hit hard and fast the second his eyes opened, it was the way he chased her lips a second and third time and she felt as if now the sun had risen, now the day had truly started.
Fearlessly she snuggled close to him, greedily claiming a morning routine he pretended he didn’t love as much as she did. Fingers gently massaged his shoulders and she tucked her head against his neck, just quietly breathing him in. She supposed you could tell you really loved someone when just waking up beside them felt like a celebratory event. “You’re in charge today,” she stated, voice still quiet with residue sleep. The past few weeks Hannah had felt particularly lazy and domestic, and Malcolm always indulged her wants without question. But today felt like mischief and adventure. “What kind of trouble can we get into without the risk of actual arrest? I wanna do something . . . like hop on a plane and go somewhere where the sun is just starting to rise.”
2016 Semi-Annual Review (Part 2)
There have been some terrible moments this year - events that impact me directly, as well as local/national/global events that cause a vague feeling of unease. But in between the troubles, there are bright spots. Always.
It’s likely that I will perpetually feel I should have more of my life figured out... But maybe it doesn’t have to be distressing. It’s okay that the unknowns infinitely outweigh the knowns. As the new year approaches, I’m looking forward to facing the challenges with a sense of inner peace and confidence. Not confidence that everything will turn out as I expect it to, but confidence that I’ll be okay, no matter what happens.
May 2017 bring more meaningful connections, more closeness with the important people in your lives, more nature, and more adventures.
