He inhales, deeply, slowly, trying to relieve some of the feeling of pressure on his shoulders. He clutches his mug of coffee, warming his fingers and relaxing out the ache of having typed over six pages of reports in 30-ish minutes. The CCG break-room coffee fills his nose with its hard, burnt edge.

Not helping, really. Dammit.

He takes a gulp of it, and nearly spits as the scorching sting fills his mouth.

Fuck!

He swallows painfully. The ping of his phone is a welcome distraction from physical misery, although he already feels the hot-cold tingle of his rapid healing. He checks the screen - the QS Squad groupchat has sent up notifications.

He does splutter over his coffee this time, into the break room sink, narrowly avoiding spitting all over his phone. Mortification narrows his world to the text on his phone. He frantically taps out a message with one hand.

He pockets his phone and prays to any god that will listen that Sasaki won't check his notifications until the end of the day - for Sasaki's own peace of mind, of course. Not because Saiko will get in trouble.
