The most important difference between Wally and Bart is their relationship with competence. Wally feels urged to be seen as competent because of his role as Barry’s successor and his current position on the Justice League. If he’s seen as hardheaded, or incompetent, he’s failing Barry, failing his team. The single worst thing to him is being made the fool in any situation.

Bart, inversely, has no such ties to her place in the succession. Wally is young, and it’ll be some time before the role of the Flash can pass to him (again). What’s more, every attempt at overachieving from Bart usually leads to someone else knocking him down a peg. Competence just leads to expectation, to being the first person people look at in a crisis. The single worst thing to Bart is being asked, “What should we do?”

I need Duke completely floored when he learns that Luke Fox, his favorite MMA fighter since middle school, a guy who he carried a poster of in his suitcase even when bouncing about in the foster system, is not only a superhero but a superhero he WORKS with??
