Painted some rocks to decorate my garden a while ago. Today, I finally got around to sealing them so they can actually go outside in the yard!

Natasha’s Oakland, California vintage apt., designed on a dime. Her favorite part of the apt. is her plants- that’s some big ivy.
A wide view of Natasha’s living room. The orange chair was free through Craigslist. The media stand in the living room corner was free. It’s perfect for holding Natasha’s small record collection and family photos. Even the coffee table was a street find.
The green shelving unit in the living room corner is another street find. Natasha filled this bookcase with toys she found at a thrift store. The toys were bundled up in a plastic bag, so she bought them all.
Though Natasha’s home is primarily made up of items she’s found on the street or in thrift stores, she’s invested in several pieces, like her bed and striped living room rug. She isn’t afraid to mix patterns and colors, as seen on her bright and colorful sofa.
A vintage globe sits on found wooden crates at the bedside.
The bedroom dresser was given to Natasha by a neighbor.
The green chair was free from a neighbor. The plant was found on a neighborhood street.
Inspired by her downstairs neighbor’s kitchen, Natasha took the door off of a cabinet to open up the small space.
A floating shelf adds extra storage.
The Kermit the Frog poster was found at a Salvation Army thrift store. A desk, which Natasha found down the street from her apartment, adds counter space in the small kitchen.
The small metal table at right was found on the street and now holds bathroom reading material. The macramé plant hanger was found at Salvation Army.
Natasha’s extensive plant collection extends to her small balcony.
I have never seen an apt. with so many free furnishings- awesome.

Erin’s apt. in Georgia once competed in Apartment Therapy’s small apt. competition. It's hard to believe how much inspiration is concentrated in this space that’s 66 sq. m (710 sq. ft.). The apartment had good bones, but it was in poor condition when she moved in.
She invested a lot of time in repairs and painting and got most of the furniture during trips with her dog. It took work, but in the end, she found beautiful furniture for free.
Erin bought the rest of the furniture over the years at Craigslist and junk shops for less than thirty dollars.
She will never bring home something that does not meet her criteria. She was able to create an eclectic mix of useful and aesthetic items for her tastes, without wasting a fortune. This kitchen seating is amazing.
Erin says, “What I love most about my apartment, is the sense of reward for my effort, patience and investment. This apartment is a house.” I can’t get enough of what some people can do on a shoestring.

This is a great idea- the table is just made of free wooden pallets, painted and stacked.

Cute, thrifted style. Actually, some of it looks like repurposed stuff found on the side of the road.
