Entering the school grounds early on Thursday, was something that Sayaka Nadeshko found relieving. It gave her a sense of freedom after she left the place that was her home and moments to herself before people tormented her in school. She wore black sweatpants, a tank top and a red flannel around her. Her black converse worn out on her feet as she made her way to the gym. Her black rimmed glasses hanging to the edge of her nose. It was currently 5:45 in the morning, and teachers were just entering. Heading to the locker rooms, she changed into gym shorts and a sports bra, not worrying about her teacher seeing the scars on her body.
Once she prepared herself, Sayaka grabbed her phone and headphones, deciding on doing a few laps before the gym teacher appears. Putting her special playlist on shuffle, Sayaka put on her headphones and began running. What she didn't notice once she began, was someone else had just entered. And it wasn't just anyone, it was the queen of the school.
Jennie Kim.
Jennie Kim was the most popular and powerful person in the whole school. Though she had a tough exterior, it was her close friends who actually knew her. Her and her friends we're labeled as Blackpink. Out of the four, two were considered the tough girls, while the other 2 were soft. Boys wanted to date her, girls wanted to be her, and others wanted something else. The only person that wasn't wrapped under her finger was Sayaka. Jennie has had her 'fun' with most of the school, and not once had she ever bothered to notice Sayaka. Until they were paired up to do an assignment together.
Sayaka wasn't phased and said nothing when they were assigned, but Jennie was confused. She always worked with Lisa, her partner in crime, team BLACK of Blackpink. After class ended, Sayaka practically disappeared from the classroom, not giving Jennie time to completely notice her presence. She talked with the teacher afterwards, and Dr. Palmer explained that she needed to pass the assignment on physics or her grade would drop to an F, already barely off a C.
Snapping from her thoughts, Jennie returned her focus to her target, making sure everything about her was known so it can be used against her in the future, even though originally she was she for a quickie with some guy. That was one of Jennie's skills. Figure out how someone ticked just to use against them if they ever did something bad that would affect her. The sound of the doors caused her to hide behind the bleachers and another pair of footsteps were heard.
Sayaka was into her thoughts and music, she jumped when she felt a tap on her shoulder. Quickly taking off her headphones, she looked up to see Mr. Queen staring at her with raised eyebrows. "I told you to not go into your thoughts while running."
"I can't control my thoughts." Sayaka shrugged, walking over to the bleachers and sitting down, slowing down her breathing as she puts her headphones and ohone aside. Mr. Queen walks over and waits patiently, knowing he can't force anything out of her. After 3 minutes long minutes--for Jennie who couldn't move-- Sayaka spoke.
"I ate yesterday after not being allowed to for 3 days. Eric looked at my grade and saw that it wasn't 100% and in his drunk state, thought that I was failing. Carol pitied me and would give me half eaten granola bars, or less than that. I did what you asked, about the painting. I just need to color it. That'll be done by the end of club and practice." She said softly, soft enough that Jennie couldn't hear most of it from where she was.
Mr. Queen removed the bag that Sayaka was now noticing was strapped to him and gave to her. "After we do this, I want to you eat everything in this bag. When you give me the painting, i want that bag empty. No excuses." He says, standing up and pulling out mats. Sayaka smiled tiredly at the bag and hugged it tightly, her fragile frame curling into a ball slightly.
Taking a deep breath, the emotions from her face left her and she stood, setting the bag down and walking towards Mr. Queen in the center of the matted area. They nodded at each other and got into a stance. Jennie, shocked by what was going on, took out her phone and started recording.
Queen and Sayaka circled around before Sayaka took the first swing. Her moves were graceful and strong as she attacked and blocked. Queen put effort into not injuring her but also not letting her off easy. When a certain move was used on Sayaka, she panicked and stumbled back, tripping on herself and scrambling back from Queen. He instantly freezes in his spot, knowing that any movements can be harmful for anyone near.
Sayaka closed her eyes and took deep breaths, slowing down her beating chest. Once she has the hang out it, Sayaka slowly opens her eyes and sees Queen with a hand held out. Hanging her head in shame, she accepts the offered hand and is gently pulled up. "I'm sorry. I still havent gotten used to it."
"You are getting better, I can see it. How about this, let my sister train with you for a bit one of these days. That way you have someone thats not tall and seriously skilled that could injure you." He said, and she knew from his tone that it left no room for arguments. Sighing, she nodded and looked down, feeling ashamed of herself. Feeling a hand pat her head gently, she looked up, seeing Queen giving her a small smile. "You're doing fine. Trust me. You learn faster than my son, and he has my friends teaching him as well."
Sayaka rolled her eyes a little and nodded, the darkness from her eyes a bit lighter. "Alright go on and change. The library should be open in about 20 minutes before it begins to fill up by little gremlins as you call them." Queen stated, causing Sayaka to cover her mouth as she tried not to laugh. Nodding, she went over to the bleachers and picked up her stuff and ran to the locker rooms after saying her goodbyes to Mr. Queen.
Once both figures disappeared from the gym, Jennie slowly stepped out of her hiding spot and quickly walked before being seeing. What she has just seen was something that she never expected. She knew some girls in this school had their own forbidden fun with teachers, most of the girls wanting get with Mr. Queen and failing, she had never seen a sincere and caring student and teacher relationship. It wasn't romantic, more of a mentor relationship that made her wonder why her heart beat faster. It certainly wasn't because Sayaka had a secret body or that the scars were perfect on her. Certainly not. It was just Mr. Queen being his handsome self. Thats all.
