StrangeSpot, Round Nineteen: Beech

The house that once stood quiet and solemn on Dead End Lane now boasts a hive of activity. Ginger and Justin are expecting their first child together and the grandparents are over the moon! Sadly their beloved cat Cheech passes away, although his work in the Kim family’s scifi sitcom will not be forgotten.

Rocky finds himself demoted back to being an obituary writer. Amazingly, Ophelia doesn’t seem to be worried at all! Pandora has picked up on her mother’s anxieties over the years and realises that as soon as their extended family members moved in, she was getting better at being in the present - not ruminating or regretting as much. It was good to see but it made Pandora wonder if a fear or being alone is hereditary...

StrangeSpot, Round Sixteen: Beech

Ophelia thinks her daughter Pandora is the most beautiful thing in the world and is always showering her with love (even if Pandora, as a teen, finds it a bit fussy sometimes). When Ophelia’s birthday rolls around, the love is returned with a surprise party, thrown by Cynthia. Having so many people filling up the house is the biggest gift to Ophelia. She feels like it’s old times again. Most of all, she hopes there will always be lots of love within these walls so Pandora never has to feel alone with the ghosts when she inherits the mansion.

Gabby sadly passes away a day later. (I hope that’s the end of the spate of beloved family pets dying of old age in Strangetown, for now anyway..!)

Olive appears for what I believe is the first time in ghost form to check on her niece in elderhood. She observes that this Rocky fellow is partnered up with her, but Ophelia doesn’t seem to be rushing into marriage like she did with Robert. Olive always found some independence to be good for the soul but she knows her niece - the question is going to be asked, sooner or later. And Mr Rocky Beech better be Mr Right... being the recipient of a lamp is a good start.

StrangeSpot, Round Fourteen: Nigmos

Smiles? In this household?! It’s more likely than you think!

Ophelia’s been hitting it off with Rocky, so much so that she asks him to move in. He finds the ghosts fascinating and doesn’t mind their presence. Good with kids and animals too.

There’s just one teensy catch - he’s bringing his stepmother Cynthia, who is also the ex-wife of Ophelia’s late first husband Robert. There’s an upside though, which is Cynthia bringing along her wealth because she wants her stepson to be happy. That means a makeoveeeeer!

StrangeSpot, Round Fifteen: Beech

Pandora is a teen and Cynthia uses her connections to get her into private school. Moving into the home of the famous witch Olive Specter is such a boon! She’ll get a bit of spotlight, surely. Too bad the home isn’t suitable for a retro-futuristic retrofit... she misses the sci-fi television set feeling.

Rocky doesn’t want to be interrupted while he’s researching for his new obituary writing job, thank you.

StrangeSpot, Round Fourteen: Beech

Rocky moves in with his dad and Cynthia after graduating. He finds his feet pretty quickly, getting a job in journalism and putting his degree to good use. He’s got a love for grilled cheese that can only be satisfied by Cynthia’s recipe - luckily she’s got all the time in the world to make it even better! She retired not long after making her debut as a celebrity chef and has plentiful royalties.

Hamilton passes away knowing he’s had a fulfilling life, in spite of all its ups and downs. He’s sad to miss the birth of his grandchild though. Cheech, now an elderly cat, meows mournfully. Hamilton was a good cat dad <3

StrangeSpot, Round Eleven: Beech

I rolled a die, as I do with most things in my game (aspirations, etc). #TeamHamilton won! Oh, and Cheech’s full name is now Cheech Beech - so really, everyone wins.

The town’s hedge witch, Maude McArthur, delivers a genie lamp for Hamilton while he’s distracted spying on Vidcund Curious.

Later the night, Cynthia is delighted to see a UFO drop her husband off on the street. She wonders if her show had some truth to it.
