This one…. is still, and will always be one of my favorites.
This is Carl, the Cuban, Ruiz.
Carl was hilarious, loud, extremely generous, kind, and one of the most talented, bad assiest chefs at the top of his game, on this planet. He said he was an underdog. He was seemingly extremely unaware of his brilliance. Carl won cooking contest after cooking contest against the best chefs, anywhere. He was a man who decided to be himself, and to share his love. And his vehicle of his love was through his food.
He tickled the hearts of most everyone he came across. He yelled a lot. He was Cuban. He yelled when he was happy. He yelled when he was mad, he yelled when he was sweaty and under pressure, and when he was talking. He yelled when he was frustrated with Guy Fieri, his good pal, when Guy would challenge his cooking prowess with impossible restrictions and hurdles to jump through on “Guy’s Grocery Games” on the food network. Regardless of the shenanigans and the pranks and the silly stuff that was pulled on him, he always delivered extremely amusing and deliciously awesome entertainment. He is a joy to watch. Carl won most, and lost few. But he was always out there, trying. And no matter how much he played the grocery games, people, and sportsmanship, and the love, always came first. He was a kind competitor, a teacher, a mentor, and a fair, supportive, constructive judge. Class act.
Carl was beloved, and gave that love back to the world in a huge way. He has a beautiful family, and he made everyone who witnesses him, seem like family too. And Carl was a such a friendly character, with all the right ingredients to be a 3 Michelin star person. He was well seasoned, just the right amount in fact, and he cooked with love. And nothing tastes better….
Carl’s friends….are suspect though…. 🙈🤷♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
