yes yes the agony of heartbreak, the anguish of unrequited love is all good and fine, but have you ever overshot a titration?

A quick snapshot of the wall outside my chem lab! I’m in love with this pattern
Today on "Stuff I Really Didn't Expect To Hear At Eight In The Morning Special Edition: Organic Chemistry"
"All right, everyone ready to make some alcohol?"
Additionally,
"The rum is always gone, so the organic chemists decided to make more."
Bonus (totally hypothetical) question from last week:
If I break a tube of top agar, does it go in the biohazard bucket or the one for broken glass?
Me
I love Organic Chemistry.
Everything goes right....right up until it doesn't.
Good news!
Despite having a lab today that involved: one substance that was volatile and highly flammable, two possibly toxic compounds, two solutions that were skin irritants (highly concentrated acid and base), the possibility of accidentally blowing the stopper off a flask, a bunch of glassware, and one entirely new procedure -
I didn't break, splash, or spill a single thing on myself (or anyone else).

Ah, college life...
Time for my favorite game: Is this issue normal or because I splashed chemicals on myself?
Today’s edition: sodium hydroxide and benzoic acid
