One thousand years ago, they shouted: "Are the kings and lords different breed? Are generals and ministers different breed?" And there they started their rebellion that sparked a thought that burnt down the first empire of China. The uprising of Chen Sheng and Wu Guang, in 209 BC, was the first well-documented peasant uprising in China. A rebellion, historians say; but I always refer it a revolution. Since Chen claimed himself a king soon after the breaking of his action, historians nowadays often declare that Chen's self-interest and self-aggrandization motivated his action more than his desire to overthrow a tyranny. That said, his quote is still inspiring to me and a lot of my fellow Chinese. To me, he and his fellow Chinese at the time interrogated the world with sticks, pitchforks and stones. The questions that they had asked remain unanswered for now. But people will just keep asking. Answer us, or we will interrogate you with anything we have.
