Quaker Chewy Bars 'Halloween Minis.' Those are half-ounce (14 gram) bars. Gotta be tiny. 3 of them are a serving. Nice box art, tho.

Halloween booze! Various kinds of themed wines, including some apple wines, which was tempting... Will this be the year I finally try amontillado?

GRANOLA BRAND: Quaker Oats

BAR TYPE: Chewy bar, rainbow chip flavor

NOTES: My god. It is so sweet that my throat is screaming out in protest. I am literally screaming. In my mind, so as not to disturb the neighbors. But still, let it be known that I did not enjoy this granola bar. Dangerously sugary and not healthy in the least, yet nowhere as satisfying as just eating a damn fruit roll up because you are an adult and you have given up on yourself. No pass for you this time, Quaker oats.

GRANOLA BRAND: President's Choice

BAR TYPE: Dipped & Chewy chocolate chip & marshmallow flavor

NOTES: These bars were nothing to write home about. Super sweet and full of a lack of surprises. I give them a pass for being bland but delicious and also for having 6% of your daily required iron. Weird. The tiny marshmallows are a definite plus, despite making the whole experience less healthy than it was already going to be.

Homemade Chewy Bars

These are absolutely delicious. One of my aunts made these for us when we were younger. I'm so glad I've got the recipe to share. Hope you enjoy this as much as I do. Ingredients - 1/4 cup wheat germ - 3 cups oats - 1/2 cup packed brown sugar - 1/2 cup margarine - 2 cups crisp rice cereal - 1/2 cup corn syrup - 1 cup chocolate chips - cinnamon/raisins/almonds (optional and as desired) Steps 1. Mix wheat germ, oats, and brown sugar. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. 2. Add cereal; stir in corn syrup and chocolate chips, then any optional ingredients. 3. Press into large cookie sheet with sides. Bake at 350F for 12 minutes. Cut into bars when cool
