I will singlehandedly bring back original sin in 2023.
the door to hell
Lu Li is standing in his room, staring at his bed.
He thinks: of the dream called ‘family home’. The space he occupied as a child, then left as a married man; a home he has tried, in a half-dead, half-drowned way, to reconstitute now, to live in, as whatever he is.
When he’d come back from Chi Zhen’s place, he’d called a soft apology to his mother, waiting silently in the living room; he had put the food she’d set out for him away in the refrigerator. He’d undressed, gone to brush his teeth, closed the door to his room. Turned off the lights. Put himself to bed, as if his body and heart might respond to instructions the way his phone did; as if he could sleep on command.
He can’t sleep on command. His body and heart are impervious, impossible. Here he is, standing on the carpet. Nothing can be put to rest.
He was prepared for the dreams; he knew as soon as Chi Zhen touched him that there would be dreams. He is not prepared for this awful restlessness; he’s ready to throw off his sweats, throw all the covers off his bed, strip the paint and paper off his walls. The sheets on his bed are tumbled navy and grey; the duvet cover, snarled at the foot of the bed, is a subdued dark plaid. The bed is both too small and too large.
No one has ever slept in it besides himself.
Swaying a little on his feet, Lu Li closes his eyes and pictures a different bed, unexpectedly modest in scope, the sheets smooth and arctic white. At his fingertips the ghost memory of a blanket, woven of something softer than any pelt or coat he’s ever touched, the fibers slightly haloed.
Why did you take him back up there tonight? Lu Li asks himself.
He thinks of the sleeping pills on his little table. He’d rather not be awake for this. There is no buffer now, no oblivion, no easy way to dismiss it all as a dream, the kind of dream people sometimes have about their work partners.
Lu Li has become a specialist in silent, unmoving non-reactions. He’s become a specialist in numbness. Good at being a rock, bad at being a person, he thinks finally.
He stands in his room with his eyes closed and thinks impossible things. He thinks them, despite being a rock.
He remembers Chi Zhen’s breathing as he slept. Remembers Chi Zhen trembling as Lu Li bore down on his hip. He remembers Chi Zhen on top of him, how Chi Zhen had braced up against his body, his stockinged foot pressing into Lu Li’s bare foot, sole to sole, to help him get leverage. He remembers Chi Zhen’s obvious instinct for the kill, veiled by his compassion. Remembers helping him push bruisingly deep into his psoas, remembers Chi Zhen drawing back from some…
Some cliff edge, Lu Li thinks.
Or some portal.
来了来了!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“You know I can’t pull the trigger. What are you doing? What’s the point of you pulling this on me?”
I'm vacationing where they shot some scenes for Original Sin.
OK. So. Here's the deal. From what I can pick out, and also from some of the local news sources, they shot scenes in Putrajaya, downtown KL and Cameron Highlands. I was in Cameron, and I was looking for the locations that they used during the brother insurance fraud arc during some of the earlier episodes? I asked my tour guide if he knew and he just said that there were many film crews who came to film 😅 so that didn't answer my question haha...
I didn't manage to snag a tonne of photos coz the weather was a bit bipolar (started the day out wet and raining, and then it got sunny)
I'm pretty sure where I went isn't where they filmed the actual show itself coz this place is big yo, but whilst I was walking around, especially at the tea plantation, I kept thinking "Hey this could've been where Zhai Tianlin and Yin Zheng could've come to and visit" or "They could've been watching this view..." or "Maybe they were on this road too..." 😂
Maybe I just missed Original Sin very much and am hoping that despite everything that has happened, we'll get a season two.
陆离+池震 // 原生之罪 (Original Sin)
Notes Hanging Above
“Your hair is so soft,” Chi Zhen murmurs. “It tickles though.”
“Hmm,” Lu Li leans back, setting his book aside as Chi Zhen wraps his arms around Lu Li’s neck. “How are you feeling now?”
Chi Zhen doesn’t respond, blowing at Lu Li’s hair gently.
“Are you bored again?” Lu Li asks. “The doctor said you need to rest.”
“He said I need to limit my mental activity; what am I supposed to do then?”
Lu Li rolls his eyes even though he knows Chi Zhen can’t see his face. “You’re supposed to do nothing— Is this the first time you’ve had a concussion?”
Chi Zhen nuzzles the back of Lu Li’s head and cards his fingers through Lu Li’s hair playfully. “Aren’t you supposed to be taking care of me? I’m feeling neglected. Do something.”
He presses closer, draping himself like a warm blanket, sliding a hand down Lu Li’s neck to trace along his collarbone slowly.
Lu Li lifts Chi Zhen’s arm away as he turns around to face him, “What do you want then?”
“What do I want,” he mumbles. Chi Zhen’s expression turns solemn as his eyes slide away from Lu Li’s. “There's one thing I've wanted to ask you for a while.”
Chi Zhen stays silent for a minute and as Lu Li waits, a glimmer of sorrow shuffles past the edges of his face like falling autumn leaves in the wind— brittle and intangible.
“...you won’t like it.”
