I have heard the 'poor Marina' sentiment before. But good God I didn't know how bad of a situation she'd been left in being sent to her aunt.

Was she really given a forged letter from George, telling her he didn't want her or their child?! Portia really manipulated her through classism and only wanted to pawn her off to the older men so she wouldn't get in the way of her own cousins marrying younger men? I mean holy shit, Marina 100% did the best she could in that situation.

She had no one to trust. She thought she could trust Penelope but that ging was brought up to be horrible just like the other women. Soon as she found a young man that she liked she was trying to make a better life for herself but oh no, it was colin! A guy that the ging had no vag to come right out and say 'hey I like you please consider being with me!'

No one in that household had empathy for that pregnant teenager who was realistically in every aspect was definitely better than them.

Maybe Marina knew what the consequences of having sex at her age without a husband would be but there was absolutely no reason for anything Portia did to her to have happened.

I'm going to say this: I'm legit disturbed that while human rights activists are fighting an ongoing battle to end child marriages on a global scale, there are folks over yonder playing with religions in developed countries going "well hey good thing you are technically allowed to get married at 16 which means if you are still a minor then by all means you can be a godbride!"

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) reports that globally 650 million girls & women and 115 million boys & men, who are alive today, were married before the age of 18. The organization Save the Children argues that child marriage, a form of forced marriage, is an infringement of children's rights and it causes children to lose their childhood. 

It further affirms that, “girls married young are far less likely to stay in school, with lifelong economic impacts. They are often isolated, with their freedom curtailed. They are at higher risk of physical and sexual violence. Child brides are also at greater risk of experiencing dangerous complications in pregnancy and childbirth, contracting HIV/AIDS and suffering domestic violence.”

Republican State Legislators in Tennessee are passing a bill to make it LEGAL for an adult to marry a child.

Republican state legislators, and Republican congressional leaders in both the House and Senate are trying to pass the following laws in almost every state:

1. Legalization of racial segregation in schools and the workplace

2. Legalization of LGBTQ discrimination laws.

3. Legalization of voter suppression.

4. Anti-abortion laws.

5. Legalization of child marriages.

6. Legalization of gun ownership without a permit.

etc upon etc.

If you are 35 and under, and eligible to VOTE for Democrats in state legislative races and also in House and Senate races...please vote for those candidates.

Please vote. Do not sit out any election from this day forward. Be scared enough to vote and vote, accordingly; because many of you do not want to know what this world/ this country is going to be like if you allow Republicans to remain in power.
