This easy pan-fried tofu with chili miso sauce is a flavorful and satisfying dish perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. The crispy tofu cubes are coated in a savory-sweet-spicy sauce made with miso, soy sauce, and chili garlic sauce, creating a delicious combination of flavors and textures.
Ingredients: 300g firm tofu, sliced into cubes. 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. 1 tablespoon miso paste. 1 tablespoon soy sauce. 1 tablespoon maple syrup or brown sugar. 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce. 1 teaspoon sesame oil. Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish.
Instructions: After pressing the tofu to get rid of extra water, cut it into cubes. In a pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the tofu cubes in the pan for 45 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown on all sides. To make the sauce, combine the miso paste, soy sauce, brown sugar, maple syrup, chili garlic sauce, and sesame oil in a small bowl. After adding the sauce, toss the fried tofu cubes to ensure even coating. Cook, stirring occasionally, for a further two to three minutes, or until the sauce thickens and covers the tofu. Before serving, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
