Somewhere between getting cursed, entering an illegal racing bracket, and developing a lot of feelings about a guy with fire for hair and his best friend, MK lost the plot.
And now he has:
a wanted poster in three cities
a crush on his rival (oops)
and Mei, who is halfway through building a rocket launcher out of stolen parts and spite
“So what you’re saying,” Mei says, holding back laughter, “is that you’re writing anonymous love letters to your rival and racing under a fake name while also pretending to hate him to his face?” MK just groans. “I never said it was a good plan.”
(Or three emotionally stunted idiots crash headfirst into fate, found family, and feelings they absolutely weren’t ready for.)

Something something MK and Red Son parallels and both relate to/empathize with and express an unrelenting belief in and determination to help Mei thrive and keep her safe… Even if it puts them or the world in danger. They trust their ability to get through to her.

I’ll tell you what I think, I think that getting through to her while she’s in this state takes an Unshakable Belief in each other.
