Hey hey hey! Does Marco molt? Does he loose feathers with the season or stress?

"Oh yeah he does!" Curiel givers you an amused smile.

He leans back against the wall of the Moby and fiddles in his pockets, eyes looking upward as he searches for something.

"Like any bird, the phoenix has gotta molt sometime! But it's not as common as a lot of other birdies. Preening is more a smoothing activity for Marco. He only molts a few feathers naturally every year, and barely a single one a month at that," His eyes narrow as he begins digging in another pocket, his smile wilting some from concentration.

"It ain't seasonal- at least not that we've found. He doesn't get cold in winter, and doesn't burn like slice of bacon on a hot rock in the sun on summer islands!" You sense a bit of annoyance and jealousy there. "So, biologically, there's no reason to molt such a perfect coat; Unless, of course, if it's damaged, oooor--"

The weapons maniac sends you finger gun, giving a wink, "He's under a lot of stress! Actually, that's one of his tells when he's reaching his limit: He just preens constantly out of instinct and habit. Jiru always stops him before it reaches plucking phase.

"His feathers are really prized across the crew and a select few allies have one themselves. Think Shanks is one of the only ones without a feather--" Curiel gives a playful laugh, "The bastard!"

Searching another pocket, expression becoming fully annoyed. He grits his teeth as he rummages more, voice becoming tight.

"Though sometimes when he doesn't need to molt.....he preens to collect the loose feathers! We do cool shit with 'em, like-AHA!!"

He cuts himself off as he pulls out a wrench and screwdriver. Immediately you see what's special about them: The wrench has a clear resin center, surrounded by metal to ensure strength. Within the resin center is a softly glowing blue baby blue feather, with a soft yellow rib down it's middle. The screwdriver has two smaller feathers- a similar baby blue feather and a pale yellow, almost white, feather. Two longer and thinner deep blue feathers are inside as well, swirling around the two in the resin and giving off a pulsing glow.

Curiel has a cheerful smile plastered on his face as he shows off his precious gifts. They look in prime condition, untouched by his maniacal habits of wild and somewhat dangerous projects.

"As I said, cool shit!" He beams, "We barter for feathers with our siblings and collect them when we see them! Some people like to keep 'em for comfort, or phantom or chronic pain, while others like to use 'em for art and accessories 'n shit. But mostly they're used in gifts!

"Marco's given us permission to do all that of course, but no one is ever to take the gifting of feathers- or the feathers themselves! Lightly."
