Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar. 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. 2 tsp baking powder. 1 1/2 tsp baking soda. 1 tsp salt. 1 cup unsweetened almond milk. 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce. 1/2 cup vegetable oil. 2 tsp vanilla extract. 1 cup hot water.
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350F 175C. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add almond milk, applesauce, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined. Gradually pour in hot water while stirring the batter. Mix until smooth. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely. Once cooled, frost the cakes with your favorite dairy-free frosting and enjoy!
