Why this is important…

Imagine voting for a couple you love on tv and not even thinking twice about their gender or sexual orientation… oh wait that’s real!

When one-third of the choices for an awards category are not your average run of the mill boy / girl relationships, maybe we can say the youth of today might actually be blurring the lines that society has tried so hard to keep intact.

#EMISON and #MALEC would normally be considered underdogs, however, the fact that #EMISON is leading by a slim margin with #STYDIA breathing down their necks, I think we can say that social norms are an afterthought here.

So, it’s safe to say that @SashaaPieterse, @shaymitch, @hollandroden and @dylanobrien did an awesome job in portraying their characters, because so many people are willing to battle it out to say that their ship is #1. It’s no longer about who’s gay and who’s straight, but rather, which ship deserves to be #1, and remember, there can be only 1!
